Vicki loved Xavier's surprise for her; her kitchen now had a decent sound system hooked up, both at home and at the bakery, so she could listen to music (or the TV he had installed at home---she knew he was about five minutes from getting a studio video camera and having her tape some of her cooking sessions like a cooking show) and dance while she cooked.
He was supposed to be gone all day. She was working on their first cook-out/dinner party at their new home, trying to get all the prep work and sides ready before he brought home the meat he was planning to grill. The smoked meat was already in the smoker, and life was good. She had Adele on the MP3 player, cranked up fairly loud because she was alone, singing along to the music, enjoying her time to herself.
That was probably how she got so wrapped up in the music and missed when he finally came in. She was getting into a very soulful rendition of "Rumor Has It", using a gravy spoon as her mic that he couldn't help but watch his wife. He had flowers for her, but couldn't bring himself to interrupt her right now.
She continued singing until the song changed, and looked up. The color drained out of her cheeks, before returning in a high blush, as she scampered to turn the music way down. "Oh, my god..." she murmured softly.
Xavier chuckled, and pushed off the door frame, flowers presented in front of himself. "Flowers for my very own pop sensation," he teased gently, before kissing her.
Vicki pouted against his mouth, taking the flowers, before kissing him back. "Don't tease...you can't install a fantastic stereo and expect me to not occasionally enjoy myself..."
He chuckled again, and kissed her forehead, moving to get a vase and filled it with some water from the sink. "Are you able to take a break from the kitchen? I think I have a way for you to enjoy yourself even more..."
