It was the first time The Doctor had ever been female; it felt strange. Things were going on with her body that she'd never experienced before, and hoped, if she found a new regeneration (which, she was doubting, with the Council being all dead), she'd never had again.
She was getting used to it, though. It'd been five years. Five long years since she'd died the last time, losing Amy--she slipped right through his fingers, and there was nothing for it. Five years of being alone.
Even when he died for the 12th time and regenerated, she couldn't bear to bring someone else with her. There was no one that wouldn't be lost; wouldn't go home. So here she was, Thirteen, all alone.
Well, that was until she met her. The blue eyed girl that wouldn't let her out of her sight when the Cybermen made their reappearance. She was a smart girl, for a human. Brave like Rose had been; unquestioning, and with smiles. Always smiles, even in the thickest of the danger. Thirteen had thought she'd left her behind; it wasn't that easy to get rid of her blue eyed angel.
She'd been there, in the TARDIS, when Thirteen'd thought she'd deposited the girl at home.
"What are you doing here? You're supposed to be home!"
The girl flashed those eyes, and that bright smile. Thirteen's hearts skipped, frustrating her even more. She does not need this. Gruff. If she's gruff, the girl won't get to her as much.
"I'm making you some tea," she responded, handing Thirteen a mug of warm tea.
Thirteen took the mug, and then walked to the console. "You let her on-board. Why?"
Happy. Love. Affection...human.
I don't want this. I can't want this. She'll just leave if I do.
The girl stood awkwardly, shifting her weight. "I just...I don't have anyone to miss me. I want to see...I want to come with you."
"One trip. That's it; you helped me back there, that gets you one trip."
"Alright, that sounds fair."
God, I'm doing it again. 'Just one trip', that's what I tell them...it's never one, but they leave, all the same. She takes a sip of her tea, as the girl settles into a chair, curling up on herself, and starting to hum as she blows on her tea.D
