You're in Des Moines because that's where you got your job. If you got your job in Chicago, that's where you'd be. Just like I'd be in Arizona if that's where I got my job.

I apologize if I didn't make my feelings quite clear -- I did have the opportunity to teach again in Chicago and it was a very difficult decision whether I should teach in chicago or Des Moines. I chose Des Moines to start for personal reasons...that's why after I got Amy's e-mail I was again flooded with sadness wanting to be in Chicago -- but here I am in Des Moines and I am grateful I received a position here.

Did you apply in Arizona? I hear great things about the state...

I didn't apply anywhere away from here for a lot of personal reasons. But I hear it's really easy to get a job there...and in Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Florida, and Alaska...

You're in Des Moines because you know how to teach in Chicago. Administration doesn't realize that they need people like you in inner-city Des Moines so they are very lucky, but not as lucky as those kids!!!

I say, don't question it. Give it a full year without regrets and then you can ask that question if you still feel that way. I bet you'll be surprised!

Thanks -- I really really needed to hear this -- you're right, I shouldn't question my decision until the end of the year -- you're the best for keeping me real and in check!

Kristie,
God helps you go where you need to go. You are NEEDED in Des Moines. You are needed and appreciated wherever you might go. Don't doubt or second-guess yourself because where you are at any given moment is exactly where you ought and the most important place to be. Love ya!

I guess I started wondering if I made the decision to live in Des Moines, not God. But you're right in that I have to trust him and it's too late to second guess myself. I have to do everything in my power to make a difference here and live for God here because that's where I am. Thank you for reminding me of this!!
