See a penny

I don’t believe that I am particularly superstitious. On a scale of 0 to 100, with 0 being “not in the least” and 100 the score of your average major league baseball player on a hot streak of wins/at-bats, I doubt I crack the low end of the scale. I don't walk under ladders, but that's from experience--not being hurt myself, but seeing people on ladders drop things that would hit someone under them. I stand under the ladder when bracing it for using it--if I hold the side rails and pull slightly down and forward, it improves the ladder's stability and I'm out of the way of the person climbing up or down. Though at this point, and after a nasty accident affecting someone we know, our ladder-to-roof climbs may be coming to an end.

I used to hold the ladder for Dad. Luckily, he never dropped anything on me.
