Radio Host Angers Parents of Autistic Children

 I normally don't get offended in general, this guy crossed the line..

NEW YORK - Radio talk show host Michael Savage, who described 99 percent of children with autism as brats, said Monday he was trying to "boldly awaken" parents to his view that many people are being wrongly diagnosed.

My students who have Autism are all about 6 feet tall and 250 pounds--I'd LOVE to see this guy tell MY students to "Cut that act out..." hahahaha, he wouldn't last a day at my job...

That wouldn't be nice wouldn't it? Normally I ignore close minded people like him, but this kind of hit home for me.

I have a mild form of autism myself. I DID have a father who told me to stop acting like an idiot and to, as he put it "stop acting like a putz". It doesn't help. It can't just be shut off, even with negative reinforcement to the behavior. It took years of self-training to minimize the symptoms, but I still have trouble communicating and concentrating from time to time.

Point of this is, Michael Savage is a troll...he says what he does to get people to pay attention to him. It's the Sean Hannity technique. They'll both be roasting in one of the toastier sections of hell someday, if there's any justice.

I agree...I think the reason why I got so angry was b/c I have a family member who's also autistic (or who's in what the call "the autistic spectrum"). It's cruel to launch comments like Savage made towards someone who don't have the means (in terms of speech) to defend themselves.
