{coming to terms}

 I have recently made a discovery.  People like Keith more than they like me.  Maybe like isn't the exact right word.  Maybe enjoy is more to the point.  He is open, enthusiastic, caring and seems to genuinely want to talk to them.  I think it is the enthusiasm that is the key here.  I am not sure if I was ever as enthusiastic as he is.  I suppose ( Read more... )

Some people just don't. It took me a long time before I felt comfortable calling anyone "hon".

Besides, I enjoy you more than I enjoy Keith! *Smooch*

Just because I knew/hung out with/liked Keith first doesn't mean I like him best. I love you both, for various reasons, but ultimately equally. Who else can I fawn over Richard Hammond *and* Eric with?! Who else will appreciate the beauty and raw sex of a Bugatti Veyron with me?!

Honestly, I don't see you not flirting as a bad thing. You are who you are, and you accept that. You're comfortable with yourself, and that makes people feel comfortable around you. Knowing me as you do, can you see me sitting in the middle of the floor crying myself to hiccups over a kids show in anyone's living room but yours? I can't. So you don't call people honey sweetie baby cutie-pie cupcake. Oh well. I know you love me. I'm fairly certain Keith knows you love him. The people that are important to you know how you feel about them, and that's all that really matters. At least that's my opinion.

You are so wrong. The pet name thing, the flirty thing, the awkward/dorky thing are all symptoms of the stress you've been under the last few years since the economy tanked, that's all. It's hard to feel confident when you're using all your energy to keep yourself together and functioning. Keith is in a better place than you right now, that's where all the enthusiasm is coming from - a couple of things fall your way and all the confidence will come rushing back. Then YOU will be the belle of the ball, not Keith.

People don't just like you, they love you; and they don't just love you, they LOVE you, deeply and truly. Don't ever forget that.
