Once someone threw a dead roach at my sister and she cried. Roaches can be very distressing. Here's the thing about the big scary flying roaches, they don't live in your house, they just come in from outside. They are actually tree roaches and because of the way their organs and exoskeletons are put together then can squish down to the width of a sheet of paper, live for 2 weeks with out their heads and crawl up drains, like the ones in your dishwasher or garbage disposal. The little ones are roaches you get from being dirty and having food lying around.

All of this probably seems like things you don't really want to know, but as a life long roach hater I have decided that it is better to know the enemy than to be ignorantly afraid of it. I am still terrified and creeped out but at least I know what of.
