for those who haven't heard, michael richards (of seinfeld fame) was heckled during one of his stand up shows. he responded but trying to go over the top i think and realized too alte that he went too far. it's an interesting clip, and the apology on letterman is worth watching if you have time.

yeah, he went pretty far over the top. it's like he went over, came back, went over again, and then kept on going so far that he forgot what the top even looked like when he was going over it.

it wasn't on television, as far as i can tell, the video quality is pretty poor.

The incident was interesting for me because we've watched a lot of behind-the-scenes Seinfeld stuff on DVD and it became very clear that he had a terrible temper. Whenever his fellow actors started laughing and messing up a scene, he would get angry. He would try to stay polite but he was obviously angry, and the other actors talked about his frustration with that too. I guess he wasn't able to continue being polite any longer that night. If only he had blown up without launching into a tyrade of racial slurs, then nobody would really care that much. The end.
