I tried that thing last night too! I got a kajillion different results too. I don't know how it works at all, it's kind of strange, but it is a lot of fun to do. I'm tempted to try to be scientific about it - if I combine this and that what happens, if I put in a ton of stuff at once then what, if I make a graph of what each piece gets - but I don't know if it's meant for science :))

Another friend of mine input three different scenes from the *same* draft novel, and got three different results. I think it probably looks for a tiny handful of "markers" and chooses the result based on those.

I want to know the markers, then. (I got a lot of Stephen King. I wish I knew what that meant!)

Well, I've always thought of King as a "no-frills" sort of writer - not that I've read more than the beginnings of a few of his books (I've always decided that I really Don't Want To Know). Clarity he's got, flair not so much, I think.
