I think this is another example of Us vs. Them and Black-and-White thinking that is becoming so prevalent in this country...these people can't conceive of a way to reconcile Biblical creation stories with scientific fact, and so they disregard one entirely. It's the widespread movements away from nuanced thinking like this that will weaken the United States in global forums...we're simply going to become irrelevant if this kind of thinking wields political power in this country...

My favorite part is when he says "There can be no incompatibility between Christian faith and proven facts concerning geology, biology, and astronomy."
