No surprise really, I suspect that most people are. Though I also find that when talked about further the differences of opinion tend to be more in the details than in the broad picture.
Personally, I don't own any firearms. I do however own more swords and other sorts of such weapons than most people would think possible without being a collector of some sort.
Oh, and no I have no issue with people disagreeing with me, though I suspect you know that.
Therefore! What I mean is I'm definately against hunting animals when we don't need to. But also I'm definately NOT pro-gun and don't think there's a reason for anyone to own them. I wish they didn't exist!
To me, being raised around them, and taught to respect them and treat them like any dangerous tool (ie chainsaw) The issue comes not in them existing, but in people not treating them with proper care and not being trained in their use (ie, don't point it at anyone, never fire it into the air, never fire unless you are specifically aiming at something you can clearly identify etc.)
I don't think I am pro-gun either though, just not anti-gun. I certainly don't think that anyone and everyone should have a gun. I do think a proficiency test should be required at least equivalent to a driving test.
But then I also have a issue with trusting my government enough to say that they are the only ones that should have weapons. Personally I'll have my own weapons of choice, but I also realize that not everyone has the opportunity to train and become proficient in the use of other types of weapons. But then, I am not over the northern border in the land of green and water either, and that could certainly have a lot to do with that. :)
