The Good, the Bad, and the Home Depot

Today started off with a trip to the Home Depot. I love that store more than any other and could spend hours there, but R was with me and promptly reminded me that I was there for specific items... My purchases were an electric hedge trimmer and a large pair of pruning shears. I longingly eyed the gas edgers that could be combined with about 20 other miscellaneous attachments ranging from leaf blower to chain saw. *Sigh* Maybe next summer. After returning home with my new toys, we left once again to do our grocery shopping at the Giant across the street. After putting away $200+ dollars (yeah, we like to eat) worth of stuff away, the work began. I started with mowing the lawn, taking a break to cut down a small tree and half of a larger one in the back yard. The Latino gentlemen sitting across the street on their porch seemed to enjoy my display of yard work abilities. They expressed their admiration by yelling "Wooo... Mamma!" I laughed, shook my head and continued mowing. I then moved on to trimming the hedges. I never realized what work that is, as I have never had to do it. The sixty linear feet of them are about four and a half feet tall and three feet deep. It was no easy task, let me tell you. To reach the back of the hedge that butted up to the house, I had to get on a ladder, WITH A RUNNING POWER TOOL. For those of you who know me, you understand that this is not a good scenario! I managed to finish up my tasks for the day in a mere 6 HOURS and all digits still attached. Yay me! Now I am enjoying a Motrin-Miller Lite cocktail and looking forward to all of the fun that the yard has in store for me tomorrow.
