Baby Steps Forward

I've always been a late bloomer in nearly every sense of the word (except perhaps mentally), and even though in some aspects of my existence, I cling to Dave Barry's assertion that "you can be immature forever", it's still nice to notice a few areas here and there where I'm actually maturing slightly.

A few years back I had to have eyelid surgery

Ouch!!

Also, my lifelong phobia of yellowjackets/wasps/hornets has lessened somewhat.

I wouldn't in any way call that immature. Wasp stings freakin' hurt. I was at work a couple of months ago and there was a yellowjacket hanging out on the side of my trailer. I refused to go in and had to get my supervisor to kill it for me. I felt kind of lame, but I'd have felt worse if I'd have been stung.

I've even allowed myself to check out the likes of YouTube™ and MySpace™, despite my previous aversion to them.

YouTube really is as cool as people say it is. I avoided it at first, too, but I love it now. Myspace, on the other hand, is the devil. I have one and I hate and I can't seem to bring myself to delete it.

I don't think you and car chases would mix well. You and cars don't seem to mix well.

steven covey (author of '7 habits of highly effective people') describes maturity as the ability to act (1) dependently, (2) independently and (3) inter-dependently. i think you have all three down, considering your relationship with krudita pretty much is inter-dependent, right? you scratch her back, she scratches yours... etc. so really, i think it is safe to say you are mature. :)
