Gwynedd Hudson Poster

I came across another poster done by my great aunt Gwynedd about 1928 and ordered a copy from the London Transport Museum. It's a bit odd and I'm not sure what to make of the message. I find this very disturbing. The flowers are lovely, bright, and draw the eye. The houses are caught b/n color and monochromatic haze. And then the factories. It's social commentary--but I don't see it promoting the use of the Underground--I mean one doesn't commute by factory....Fascinating...

Yes, disturbing is he word I would use. And who would want this as an add? I guess my next step is to see where the Underground went in the late 20's - was this an add to promote escape from the city?
