Ok, I'm no longer mad. :) Mom's car has been fixed, with no tampering found. Some water got into a crack in the manifold and forced the engine to stop. Thankfully, that's MUCH easier (and cheaper) to fix then a new engine. All is well now and Jim and I are taking the car to Denver now
