No much actual art to note here, really. Just some...random stuff. Yep.
First is something that I've been trying to recover since reading an MST for a very terrible fanfic (My Inner Life, in case you're wondering - and it's reeeally terrible) that reminded me of something: I used to be able to dream lucidly, and very often. Now, I still have those kinds of dreams every once in a while, but it's not as common. Dreaming overall has become less common for me. ...And that makes me sad. So, I've been reading up on lucid dreams (dreams overall, really; apparently just telling yourself you'll remember your dreams works pretty well, because I remember parts of both the dreams I had last night o_O I'll be continuing this method, of course), and as such I've been trying to figure out how to induce them more often, and to induce them more or less consciously; usually, something'll just happen to make my brain go 'hey, now!' and change things just slightly to be the way I want them to be, before I'll go back to dreaming normally.
It's a weird example, but it's also kind of amusing in a way; a couple nights ago, I had some completely out-of-nowhere dream about Zim and Dib. And, if you know me, you can probably guess the basic content (also, NO, it wasn't a wet dream - gawd, get your minds out of the gutter). Now, I had no control over what was going on, until suddenly I'm all like...hey. What the hell. Zim's being WAAAAY too dominant. I don't like this! And, immediately, Zim was uke-fied. ...So, yeah, apparently my subconscious is so geared towards uke!Zim that it can't stand seeing him on the controlling end of things. XD; It likely has something to do with my generally avoiding most art/fics where Dib is on the bottom, because no one can draw/write it properly (in my opinion) without making Dib look like a total freakin' pussy. He's a whiny bitch in the actual show, sure, but he's definitely not a pathetic wimp, and Zim whines a HELL of a lot more than he does, anyway. "EWW, GERMS" "I HATE THIS PLANET" "MEAT IS EVIL, GET IT AWAY" "HUMANS ARE DUMB" "WHY DON'T THE TALLESTS EVER PAY ATTENTION TO ZIM, BAWWWWW" (I'd go on, but that'd probably get annoying.)
But, as I was saying, it made me want to look into dream recall and lucid dreaming, because of one thing in particular; a story that stemmed from a really cool fantasy dream I had a long while ago. I've had this dream a couple times, and the one thing I always notice and remember is that the world is interesting, the characters are colorful and engaging, and the plot is more or less entirely sound. A few inconsistencies here and there, but I mean, come on. It's a dream. And it's this dream in particular I've been hoping to recall, and perhaps get a chance to understand more in-depth by having one o' thems fancy lucid dreams.
Now that I've said that, I'd like to take a moment to tell Emi that she keeps appearing in the most bizarre parts of my dreams. She won't really do much, she'll just...BE there. It's kind of unsettling, yet also very hilarious. Especially seeing as her most recent appearance was on a 'family trip', and when we reached our destination she just suddenly poofed into the car - right between me and who I guess was my brother - and everybody just seemed to accept this as totally okay and normal. And then she and I had an epic battle with plastic shark toys. I have no idea why. We just did. And it was pretty cool. (I think she won, but I was already waking up at that point and can't be sure. >_>)
...I thought I had something else to say, but apparently I don't. So, ART TIMES
If you visit my dA page at all, you've probably seen most of them 8\
Ed/Winry, or something. This was supposed to be the first-place contest prize for a contest that took place ages ago. Hopefully I'll have it colored by the weekend, because the winner's been waiting for it for years now. O_O;
Another commission, this one of a goblin sorceress named Khuri. You can see the sketch
here.
Speaking of commissions, I finished the one from that last journal:
Okay, technically, the journal before last. But, you know. 8\ Bah, already I see so many errors on this and that other one I just posted. :[
Next up is...KERIK! ...That's all I know about him! ...His name!
And I guess he's awesome or something? (I don't remember designing him to be a stuck-up prick, though. Then again, I don't remember anything about him in the first place. 'Cept his name. I remember that.)
Then there is a very very tiny fairy-ish!Zim from a comic that found my greatest weakness - tiny people in flowery outfits. (The fault of Peter Pan and Zelda; Minish Cap. No question about it.)
He may be freakishly cute, but fear not - as far as I can tell, he's still 100% in-character in the comic. Or at the least, 90% in-character. You can check out the comic
here. (I feel kind of sorry for Skoodge in this comic - he just wants Zim's attention...)
...No, I'm totally not starting to find Zim/Skoodge adorable at all. Shut up.
Next we have a FREAKING GIANT Pokemon meme, so I'm just going to
link to it. It's going to take me damn near forever to color it, but I'll have it finished eventually. Also, for those who know anything about my team, yes, I kicked Tajim the Luxray off, because his moveset SUCKED. >[ I mean, seriously, he could only super-effect a handful of types (6, to be precise) with his electric/dark/steel/normal moveset, but Selin? Selin learned Fire Punch, Thunderbolt, Magical Leaf, and Psychic - she can wipe the floor with nearly twice as many types as Tajim could! Couple that with the Expert Belt I intend to give her, ever though I'll of course be EV-training her in Special Attack, her one single physical move (Fire Punch) won't be lacking power against an enemy weak to it. x]
Moving on from being lame, though, (well, not really) I shall explain the basic story behind Regit: Elya is a newly recruited member of Team Rocket, thanks to her admin step-mom Fae, in need of some serious mentoring in battle. Put simply, she sucks. She's like the grunts you meet early on in the games. So, that's where Terri comes in. Terri was originally a Pokemon breeder from Vien Town, and she's been with her team for so long - having bred, hatched, and raised them herself - that she knows the ins and outs of battling with them. Her Weavile has been with her since she was six, in fact, and she's seventeen in the story. So, Terri is enlisted to help Elya learn how to properly battle. Normally they wouldn't bother and would just let Elya suck, but Terri's got a few issues they'd like to work out so as to utilize her abilities properly; number one, she refuses to actually steal Pokemon. She'll steal stuff, yeah, but not Pokemon - she catches or breeds them on her own to turn over to the boss. This rather bizarre method keeps her from becoming an admin, which she's otherwise qualified for. So Elya has been, in a way, assigned to Terri to hopefully teach her the 'proper' way to be a member of Team Rocket, because if there's one thing Elya likes doing, it's stealing Pokemon.
...To be honest, I'm really not sure what I'll end up doing with the story, though, because there's two ways it could end; one being Elya learns it's wrong to steal Pokemon, blah blah blah, or two, Terri gives up her righteous views of how a trainer's ownership of and relationships with their Pokemon should be valued. The problem is, if I go with one, it makes Terri seem more or less perfect (I mean, she's already based off me and is a highly skilled trainer), but if I go with two, well, that just punches the concept of 'morals' right in the face. ...Though, I guess I could just let it go on forever and leave it open-ended. XD;
Ah, whatever. Here's the next drawing.
It's a big ol' pile of happy Venusaur! (And somewhere, Elya does some very inappropriate things. Gawd, what a Pokephile. XD)
Last in the Pokemon stuffs is this little dealie:
No, Mew, it's clearly Koffing.
Mew: GOD DAMMIT, AAAAAAAAARGH
Yes, that weird thing at the bottom was supposed to be Mew. XD And, yes, I will be coloring this.
Finally, here is a thing I am actually VERY proud of, even if there's tons of mistakes.
Characters in a novel I'm writing, though one of them isn't exactly in their usual shape. (The giant glowy thing, in case you're wondering.)
Said giant glowy thing is an energy being (more specifically, Mezrennan) known as Atrephi. It technically has no gender, though I may occasionally (or often) refer to it as 'he', because if you bug him about it enough, Atrephi will probably identify himself as more male than female. The inverse is true with his 'parent', Tereth, though she views herself as female regardless of whether you ask or not. Their race can shapeshift, but its highly limited - the size they can reach depends on the energy they've stored and how much they want to expend, and they remain more or less transparent. As well as this, their appendages cannot change far too drastically from that of the original form, and the markings covering them stay more or less where they are, though they might change size or shape in accomodation; a few might vanish if it's necessary, but will return instantly upon the ending of the transformation. Because of these limits, their shapeshifting is generally viewed as useful only in transporting others (which they rarely do) or objects, or when against an opponent vastly different in size in a battle (which they also rarely do). They are the most conservative race when it comes to energy, being made entirely out of it; as such, they take things slowly and rarely get involved in matters that they might find exhausting. Thus, they generally avoid responsibilities as a whole, and might often be viewed as lazy. They are also incorrectly viewed as being a serious race as a whole, simply because the way they communicate is so blunt that their jokes are often easily missed. (Atrephi, on the other hand, is rather skilled at the art of humor, getting the jokes across whilst still keeping a totally dead-pan expression on his face. It tends to exasperate the more serious characters.)
Seeing as we know enough about humans, all I really need to say about the other character is that her name is Lindsay, and that she's a starving artist who got pulled into a giant political mess. A giant political mess that's not even taking place in her own dimension. :]
...OH! I do have a little bit more stuff to share.
Just boring Spore-related stuff, though. Sorry. :< So, I play as a weird rendition of the Irken race, because that's some fun stuff right there. It makes me not as worried about turning on races or just destroying something on a whim, because I can just go, 'OH! Well, that's all right, an Irken would do it.' And thus, nearly a dozen entire alien civilizations have been destroyed thanks to this mindset. XD
Here's just a couple of screenshots, but I'll likely have more once my empire starts getting even more ridiculously huge than it already is.
About a week ago, this was about 3/4s of my empire. Now, it's a little less than half. :D
You may notice the differently colored lines and stuff. See the red and the purple empires? Those are gone now. :] And the bright green guys? They're next. >D (They have shitty planets with even shittier spice, anyway. A nice bombing'll do 'em good.)
Here was the full empire a week ago:
The area on the right side there now has a bunch more little Irken territory flags. Also, quite a few of those star systems have more than one colonized planet.
Here's a picture of the not-so-Massive, because the motherships get really tiny on-planet for some reason:
Note the purple terrain and red sky, because that's applied to EVERY planet colonized by my Irkens. Their territories are literally cookie-cutter'd. Every planet has a perfect Terrascore, 3 colonies (the max) with the exact same buildings in the exact same locations (forming the most efficient system that also made the citizens happiest and thus most loyal), the same vehicles and tools (Uber Turrents are a must!), and of course, every single planet has purple terrain, a red sky, and pink oceans. XD Planet Irk itself has this color scheme, in accordance to the decisions of the creators (aside from the water, cuz well...yeah), and I was even lucky enough to get the rings! (Which, by the way, Irk also has in canon.)
As you can clearly see, my Sporeified Irkens aren't quite as cute as the originals are - then again, they don't look quite like the originals, anyway. XD That's okay, though, I still like them. And the spiderlegs make them walk cool.
Here's a more size-appropriate Massive:
'Bout the size of a planet, just as it should be. 8D
You might notice that from the previous picture to this one, I went down 30,000,000 credits (I refuse to call them Sporebucks, that's just stupid). I think I bought two star systems, conquered another (don't worry, no one actually lived there), and colonized three or four planets in between the two screenshots. As you can probably guess, things are very expensive. But that's okay - my empire's so huge that I can regenerate the wealth reeeeeeeeally quickly. (Of course, for when I get lazy, there's always cheat codes. XD)
Some of you might wonder why I'm piddling about with making my empire gigantic when I've still clearly got the Grox mission to do. Well, the answer to that is simple: I don't want a ton of aliens bombing all my settlements when I ally with the Grox. And I am GOING to ally with the Grox. I just want to do it safely. So, as I go along, I'm clearing out every single alien race I come across. Takes a while, yeah, but I'm not going to let any aliens take a shot at my empire just for allying with the most evil race in the galaxy. Fuck that.
And this is why humans should not be allowed access to interstellar travel. :D
