“She’s threatening you…” Ohno hummed after he had finished listening to Nino’s conversation with his ex-wife. He still couldn’t believe that his husband had hit his wife even though he had seen it with his own eyes. He had been almost destroyed in confidence but Nino had stopped that with one quick punch to her face. Rina had seemingly flew over the room blood coming from both her nose and lip while Nino had stood looking dazed his cheeks glowing like warm embers on a fire as he stared down at his hand that was still clenched into a fist. Things had gotten a little bit hazy for Ohno then, he could remember a lot of shouting and people coming to help his former wife while he and Nino ran for it but he still couldn’t remember how they had gotten back to their little island.
“Yes, she is…” Nino sighed looking more miserable than he had ever seen him his fingers threaded through his hair and he was biting so hard on his bottom lip that in a few hours it was going to look as bruised as his finger. Ohno blinked slowly as his heart quickened a noise of surprise leaving his throat as realisation dawned on him, seeing the bruised appendage poking out from under the mess of dark brown hair that was lightening from the sun. Nino looked up slowly his eyebrow arched up his face “What…?”
“Your finger!” Ohno hissed with a wave of his hand before hurrying to the freezer hoping that there were still ice cubes left in the bag that they had found on their first day. Thankfully there was and quickly he set out wrapping them in a tea-towel and bringing it over to his young husband who had a slightly bemused but happy expression on his face now. “You…We should put some ice on your finger…Does it hurt?”
“Only when I move it…But I’m sure it will be fine…”
“Let me have a look…” He said his hands reaching out surprised when Nino gave a growl and pulled away his whole body recoiling away from him as he said almost flippantly;
“Nah…Honestly it will be okay in a couple of minutes if I put the ice on it…”
“You…You think I can’t do it, don’t you?” He pouted Rina’s words from earlier ringing in his ears as clear as freshly cut crystal. The self-confidence that Nino had given him over the course of their relationship really had seemed to have evaporated in just the space of that meeting “I might not know words Kazu…”
“My beloved…” Nino sighed slowly, guilt flashing over his face like lightning as he came forward and cupped his cheek with his uninjured hand his thumb moving under the puff under his eye before he came and pressed their foreheads together continuing in a whisper “I know you can take care of me, of course you can…I just…Urgh…I just feel so stupid…I shouldn’t have punched her…No…That’s wrong…I’m glad I punched her she deserved it…But…I…I gave her power over us…I gave her away to hurt you…She wants to meet you alone and…Urgh…I hate that bitch so much but I should have been the bigger person but I acted like an immature git and I’m sorry…”
“I…I thought you looked cool…”
“Cool for hitting a girl? I doubt it…I normally use my tongue…I always have I never get so angry that I use my hands but…” Nino’s eyes closed tightly as he sucked in a deep breath that caused his chest to swell just a little before he released it all at once and seemed to fold in on himself. Carefully Ohno wrapped his arms around his body holding him up tightly so he didn’t collapse to the floor and Nino’s arms circled him “…Today when I saw you getting upset and I heard what she said to you…It’s not just words for me Satoshi…I love you…I’ve loved you since our omiai…You were so adorable…But…Urgh…I swore to myself that I would never ever put you in a position where I could hurt you…But I have…”
“Rina did…Not you…” Ohno whispered softly, correcting his lover before he tilted his head up and kissed his nose “I’ll talk to her…But…I have you…So nothing that she says can hurt me…”
