in livejournal land, that is.
As promised, here is my overdue picture post. Are you ready for the LONGEST PICTURE POST EVER?! Dial-up users beware -- 100+ photos underneath the innocent-looking LJ cut.
I'm even going to do this in chronological order! Exciting, ain't it?!
Okay, last time I updated was at the end of winter break, so I'm starting from there.
When I got back to school, lo and behold! Annie's bunnies had gotten busy and had babies! Four little pink velvety squirmy things:
Unfortunately, the mommy bunny ("Marilyn") didn't know how to take care of them and two died within a week. Annie and I were like, "Oh no!" so we took the remaining two into her room and put them in a cozy little box full of cotton, to keep them warm, and hand fed them. We had to feed them twice a day, with little syringes, and it took approximately two hours each time, but it was fun.
They become more active after two days and started making tiny squeaking noises, but then early one Sunday morning, Annie woke me up and we spent a painful half an hour trying to revive them, but they were gone. We had ice cream for breakfast that day. I'm no longer super bummed out about it, but it was a sad time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What a depressing way to start my entry. But I promised chronological order!
The next event for which I have pictures is Tia's birthday. We had a little party in my lounge, per usual, and Hadley fell in the corner somehow:
The fun is in the corner!
Haha, anyway, here is the birthday girl and the cake that I had fun making:
As I recall, Zane and Tracy helped me with that one.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sometime in late January, Amy visited, and I hung out with Connie and her at Pomona.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the beginning of February, Claudia gave me sidewalk chalk and a kite to help me get through the semester, and I drew this in front of the suite:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then came a triple birthday: Hadley, Abby, and Hobo (Hyung Joo). We held the party in the main Sontag lounge.
Earlier that day, Tia took an awesome picture during Physics (or was it Chem?) lecture:
oops, that was slightly out of chronological order, but I think you should forgive me. ;)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What else happened in February? Oh, I ordered a custom-made shirt from MUCC (Mudd ... Creative Collection)!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And I attended Adhana's birthday party at the iceskating rink with all the cool Pomona kids!
After iceskating, we went back to their dorm and hung out with lots of balloons (don't diss the balloons -- balloons are people too!), and sang random crazy things.
And here is a random picture of (the fabulous, super awesome) Christina and me, from that night:
Note: the shirt is meant to be ironic because all my good friends know that I hate math. I wear the shirt on days that I have to take math exams - but Mudders don’t get it! They just think it’s cool and want to know where I got it. ::cries::
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyway, Valentine's Day rolled around, and though it was devoid of romance, I still had a great Valentine's Day weekend because I spent time with my two favorite sophomores juniors.
We hung out at my house for a bit, and then went to dinner at a delicious Italian place in Old Town Pasadena with Jocelyn's family.
Oh, and if you were wondering, my Valentine was Mr. Fish Taco:
:P
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In February I also completed my first E-4 (Intro to Engineering) project: designing a fully functional logic gate.
I really liked my group -- we got along, had some fun, and worked well together. I had two CMC guys in my group, and it didn't hurt that one of them was hotttt. :D
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Mae/Reliant K concert was in mid-February, and it was AWESOME, of course. I went with Connie, Heather, John, and two of his friends. John is one of Connie's Pomona friends. The concert was really fun and In-And-Out afterwards was, too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shortly after the concert, my second E-4 project was due: Reverse Engineering.
I worked with Nina on this project, and it was fun and very interesting. We took apart a wind-up toy car and analyzed all the tiny little parts and how they fit together to make the toy work.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shawna gave me a belated birthday present in late February: lots of pretty whiteboard markers! Yay! So I drew this on her board:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Annie got tiny (illegal) turtles for her friend around this time. They were cool little dudes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In March, I went home for Spring Break and helped Jocelyn with Rie's surprise birthday party. The theme was Johnny Depp/Pirates of the Caribbean and I helped decorate. It went well -- she was completely surprised, and the party was a blast.
Johnny Depp. ::sigh::
Yeaaa watermelon boat! The pirate sail was my doing. ;)
Pinata!
Waiting to surprise the birthday girl.
Rie: "Woaaah!"
Cheese!
Johnny Depp + Cake = :)!!!
It was nice seeing Brian and Uriel.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
During Spring Break, Connie drove Francesca and I up to Lompoc to visit Christina. We slept over and had a great time.
The scenery on the drive up.
ditto.
The lovely Connie and Christina in Christina's kitchen.
Francesca, jamming out on the piano.
pretty sunset
a fuzzy caterpillar dude
crazy chicas in the seaside restaurant we ate at that night.
ditto. minus "crazy."
Christina tried to bite my head! I look surprisingly happy about it.
we watched "Fresh Prince" before sleeping. :D
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After Spring Break, Javier and Carlos visited! It was very nice hanging out with Java-Lava-Chava and Carrrrlitos.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ahh, I forgot to mention that my roommate, Anu, brought me back some henna from India after winter break. In March I inked myself a dragon tattoo.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Early in April, the awesome possum Trang and I baked a fun cake for Matt McKnett:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On April 10th, CMC held an International Festival that was really cool. Harry visited that day, but I only got to hang out with him briefly. Here are the flowers I bought at the Festival:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My aunt came back from Thailand mid-April, and she and my mom visited.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
During April and May, a group of Mudd students decided to paint a mural on the wall near Jay's Place, and I got to contribute. It was a really cool experience. Here are some pictures of the mural (some of the pieces are unfinished):
This is the solo piece I did. The pupil of the eye is supposed to be the world.
The dragon that Ellen did was freaking kickass.
Mele did the hula dancer, and it looked really nice.
This is the joint piece I did with Leslie (who I only recently discovered is awesome). It's 3-D and has sharks sticking out of the wall! I ended up working on it, standing on a ladder, for almost 8 consecutive hours because I wanted to finish it before Rie and Jocelyn visited. It was painful, but fun (the painting, not the visit!) :D
I couldn't get a clear shot of it, but here's a picture with flash.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rie and Jocelyn visited on April 23rd, and I was verrry happy :)
Here are the gals in my room, complete with their newly acquired Harvey Mudd merchandise (I gave Rie a mug and Jocelyn a beach ball).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is a random picture of Carlos and I, that I found on his myspace.
I have no idea where and when this was taken. If anyone can figure out where the picture is from, I’ll give you a cookie. Or a pat on the back. :D
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK, back on track. I'm almost done! Kinda..
In early May, Shireena, Annie (two of my suitemates), Steven and I went to dim sum (mmmm).
We took random pics on the way back, simply because Shireena wanted lots and lots of pictures of her friends, since she was graduating soon.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My mom gave me some yummy Thai dessert/candy that was similar to marzipan, but was shaped like fruit:
Yummy and cute!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
During dead week, E-4 owned my soul. It chewed it up and spat it back out.
Dead week traditionally means a week of lounging around before finals week - “dead” implying quiet, peaceful, no work. “Dead” for me meant that I’d be dead by the end of the week. My group and I worked on E-4 like mad for the first half of dead week, but all our hard work during the past weeks paid off, because our final presentation went very well.
Here’s a picture after the presentations, of random people in E-4 (not my group - we didn’t get a group picture, unfortunately.):
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On May 7th Tracy and I baked Zane and Matt (Hoss) a birthday cake.
It was my last cake of the year, so I wanted to make it look good. The design took forever to do! It's supposed to be Gene Kelly from the cover of "Singing in the Rain" (Zane's favorite musical) and a snowboarder (one of Matt's passions is snowboarding). Mmmmm cake. :P
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Early May was a weird time, what with finals and my freshman year of college winding down. I took some pictures of my room before I began to move out:
Ohhh, I’m going to miss my Sontag room! I’m living in Case dorm next year, and I’m going to REALLY miss my huge double and beautiful kitchen and my whole suite. I’ll also really miss my suitemates.
…
and my display of juice bottles that mock all other displays of alcohol bottles :D
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The day I finished finals, I looked like this:
Then I realized that I was completely finished with freshman year, so I was like
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The day after my last final, a group of us went out with our visiting Chem Prof, Prof Logan, to eat dinner at “Darvish.” The Persion food was delicious and free (we get to eat with our profs for a subsidized amount under the Leonard fund.)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next day, I went to Six Flags with Shayni, Freia, Matt, Paula, Andrew, and Mike. I don’t have any pictures, but I felt it was worth mentioning because it was fun.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Graduation was on Sunday, May 15th, and I only knew a handful of seniors that I would truly miss, so I made them scented folded roses (that I recently learned how to make from Freia):
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Graduation Day (aka Commencement) was HOT and I don’t mean sexy. But I stood in the shade for most of the time, so it wasn’t too bad. The speaker was a Mudd alum who was also the producer of the Bond films (cool!) and he gave an interesting, albeit long, speech.
I snapped pictures with most of my favorite seniors, plus some random other people ;)
Steven, who looooves to poke fun at me and infer that I do dirty things. -_-‘ All the same, I’ll miss him.
Annie, a rising senior, who I’ll actually really miss living with (she was one of my suitemates.) But I can still bug her and use her kitchen, since she’s living in Sontag next year.
Mele, who was Sontag proctor (kind of like RA, but more focused on giving out candy and advice than enforcing rules.) She’s an all-around super great gal and I wish we’d hung out more. I’ll definitely miss her.
Matt Hoss, fellow rising sophomore.
Hadley! Rising junior, kick-ass gal, former SI mentor.
Abbygaaaiil! Fellow rising sophomore, future fellow SI mentor. Did I mention that I got the job as SI (summer institute) mentor for next year? I’m stoked - it’s going to be really fun.
Shawna, Shireena, Annie (all suitemates), Sara, and her little sister. As I mentioned before, I’m really going to miss my suitemates.
Malia: Mele’s "Hawaiian sister," also super cool gal. I wasn’t as close to Malia and I was to Mele, but I’ll still miss her. She’s great. Felicia’s the one in the yellow - she’s a rising junior and I met her during SI. I’m quite fond of her -- she’s really cool. ;)
My homegirls! Monica and Cassy, who aren’t joining me for summer math. I’m seriously missing them both right now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After graduation, I had to pack up all my junk because I had to move into my summer room in Atwood dorm.
My walls look so bare! ::sniff::
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On Monday, the day right after graduation, summer math started. It’s intense, to say the least. I’ve been spending an average of 10 hours a day on math: 3 hours in class (8:45 - 12:00), an hour break for lunch, 4 straight hours of homework (1:00 - 5:00), another hour break for dinner, and several more hours of homework until I’m done. >.<
For the first few days of summer math, before I moved into Atwood, we did homework in my very empty suite. I took some random pictures one day:
Mariam, looking like the devil! She can be very devilish, sometimes, hehe. ;P
Abby, who’s crying because she doesn’t want me to take a picture.
Mariam and Abby like to horse around, and it’s highly amusing.
The Roc!
Matt Weiner.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I finally moved into Atwood 225 near the end of the first week of summer math. It took 5 hours to move all my junk (I had A LOT of junk) and another 3 hours to organize my room to my liking. Needless to say, I slept really late that night, because I was up doing homework. I rather like my single, though. It’s awesome.

Mannn, I’m going to get so spoiled in this single - I don’t want to live in a double next year! But at least I’ll like my roommate this time around.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
May 21st I went home for the weekend, and upon calling Jocelyn, found out that Rie was getting ready for Prom so I went by the salon to surprise her. I ended up helping her get ready all morning/early afternoon, along with Jocelyn and Amy, and it was really fun.
Jocelyn, spam musubi (mmm!), and me at the salon, while Rie was getting her hair done.
:D
Jocelyn likes spam musubi almost as much as I do! Tee hee, gotta love this picture.
The back of Rie’s hair was cool.
Jocelyn, still eating that Spam Musubi, driving.
Yay, boba! Attractive, no?
Bwahaha it’s like beauty and the beast: she’s all dolled up, and I’m there in my grungy-but-comfortable tank top that is seven years old and falling apart.
Rie and her boyfriend Jon, who’s Thai (woot!) and so far has been a good enough boyfriend to avoid incurring my wrath. Aww, cute couple.
The helpers, or "pit crew," hehe. We stole flowers for our hair since Rie didn’t use them all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At midnight of May 23rd, Dustin came by and picked me up so we could drive down to Cerritos and surprise Connie for her birthday.
:-)
This is the lame ramen-puppy thing I made for her, heh. She’s been crazy about ramen lately so I thought she’d like it. Haha, Happy (now belated) Birthday, sis!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Later that week, Lupita visited! It was really good to see her. We didn’t get to hang out for very long, though. And Cassy and Monica came later in the day, but she had left. No pictures for this either, but also worth mentioning. :-)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This past weekend, I went to Bolsa Chica Beach to attend a 5-in-1 birthday party for Connie, Steven, Priscilla, Danny, and Brian. It was a blast. Too bad the weather wasn’t that nice.
Aww, I love Steven and Frannie!
I got to see Sarah, my fiancé! Haven’t seen her in, like, over a year!
Christine, Priscilla, me, and Frannie. :-)
Katie-O had model hair in this one.
hahah you can see up Frannie’s nose! ;P
sexy.
my jeans got wet -_-‘
After the beach closed, we went to the Harbor House for really good milkshakes.
Philip, me, and Connie.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On Monday (yesterday), Monica came by because I wanted to give her a birthday present (her birthday's today.) We also ate cake that Hadley and I baked -- Hadley and I have been baking a lot lately. :) We made a delicious brownie/cake + mint-chip-ice-cream + chocolate shell amalgam last week, and the cake we baked for Monica was strawberry with orange icing (because they are her favorite cake and color, respectively.) We had a tiny party in my room; it was fun.
Happy Birthday, Monica! I hope you had a good one.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Holy crap that entry took forever. But with all those pictures, ya’ll have no excuse not to comment - so comment, foo’! ;D
P.S. If you want full-size versions of any of these pics, let me know.
