Shouldn't have done it, but I bought myself a new toy last weekend. I've wanted a tablet for a year or so. Last week I noticed that the new Google Nexus 7 was on sale at Best Buy with a $25 Google Play credit as well, so I bought it. I'm planning on getting a Barnes & Noble Nook HD+ in the near future, I think the main diff with the Nexus 7 is the GPS and perhaps screen rez, I'm not too worried about those. They are sweet devices, aren't they? I like the iPad that we bought last year, which is pretty much my wife's exclusive toy, but I find it kind of heavy to read with in bed.

For books, check out the Baen Free Library, they have an amazing amount of science fiction available. And, as always, Project Gutenberg. I downloaded a White House cookbook from the 1880's recently that's really cool. And most of their stuff is both epub and Kindle format in addition to plain text.

It is a fun toy. Just downloaded a few free books from Kindle... Nook store wants me to add a credit card to download free stuff, but I put both the nook and Kindle app on it-- keeps the reading options open.. Still figuring out the things I can do on it. Will have to check out Baen Free Library and project Gutenberg. Need to get to the library to get the PIN or password for my membership so I can borrow e-books from the library as well as getting some free tunes.
