whats the purpose of having the letter "c"

Uh.
Look in the dictionary.
And you'll see, that there are words that begin with "c" that are quite essential...like..."cook".
Of course, I'm sure that's not the "point" you're making...
But that's how I see it. *shrug*
Explain?

Hmm...interesting question. You could always get rid of it. "k" makes a hard c sound and the other sound makes an s sound.
Of course...taking the word "cook" and replacing "c" with "k" would give you "kook". But some cooks are kooks.

wow, so you read my mind exactly, because I was thinking about it and I realized that you could use k and s, but then I didn't even think that there are two words so close like that...and I also realized that c helps to make the "ch" sound
