Today is the national day of silence. Today millions of high school kids will refuse to talk, in solidarity of their classmates and peer who suffer in silence from bullying, particularly bullying because sexual orientation

I was bullied for entirely different reasons, reasons I couldn't hide. At 6'2 and 12 pounds soaking wet, I was the perfect target. The little bastards knew they would look tough picking on the big kid. It took me a while to realize how scared they were that I might fight back.

But bullying has gone to terrifying levels since my school days. The things I have read and heard about make my stomach twist.

Good for Mara. I'm proud of her.
