I did that trip in reverse way back at the dawn of time, and in a hydrofoil, too! It was a gorgeous trip up the river and the scenery would have been much improved by the subtraction of a large number of {large} Germans sitting with their backs to it.

I wonder if there is still a hydrofoil service up the river? It was very cool indeed, and such a smooth ride.

I hope you can take the trip, and take lots of pictures. The river winds around between forested bluffs, and as you come around bends new vistas open up, there are castles perched over the river... I wish I had been a photographer back then, but I just stood in the open side door and drank it all in. I think it was one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Of course, that was ages and ages ago when the world was young, so I hope it hasn't all been built up. Somehow I suspect it hasn't.

I am not sure if there is still that service, I'll have to see. I would be surprised if they dropped that service . . .

I really hope we can make it happen, and I'd love to take that trip.

So far the trip has been a little difficult since out flight was delayed and they lost our luggage . . .

But it's better now, and Italy to come!
