Killzone 2

Well, I just finished Killzone 2 and... *shrug*. I'm not saying it's bad - it's a fun, solid fps. The graphics really are superb (it's half of what sold me on it from the demo), good physics, etc. But I really don't think it deserves as much hype as it has gotten, and I've recently played better shooters anyway ( Read more... )

You didn't add what I said to add! I guess kissing isn't as awesome as video games.

THAT'S TWO THINGS-ISM!

Wait, what?

Though I don't have a PS3, I still enjoyed this post, for reasons that I have made clear. A++.
Generally speaking, I don't love shooters, but Bobby and I have been thinking of renting Bioshock to play on his 360 some weekend, and now we may just do that. Because who doesn't love killing mutants? Communists, that's who.

Bioshock is an excellent game. The atmosphere is excellent and it has rpg elements in the mechanics (upgrading your character) that make for quite a lot of options and depth in the gameplay. I'll eventually talk about some of my other games, not all of which are PS3 exclusives.

Woot, game reviews.

Also, I wouldn't assume that none of your readers care about PS3 - I just got a bigger TV, and was looking into BluRay players. The +video games part of the PS3 makes it a decent buy, although there are finally other BluRay players of comparable quality for less $ out there.

Oh yeah, I hadn't thought about trying to sell people on the PS3. I certainly love mine - and never really touch the Wii anymore. I don't really think it suffers from a lack of games as some people say. I feel all you really need is a few games you can keep going back to (Rock Band, a fighting or racing game) or those ones that have lots of content (Fallout, GTA, or pretty much any RPG). And then beyond that, there's bound to be new stuff coming out here and here ( ... )

I already have the 360 and Wii - that's really the only impedance right now. I already own the Rock Band games for 360, and I just didn't see that many PS3 exclusives that I really, really wanted (not as many as the 360, at least - before I bought the 360 I made a list, and it was about a dozen games, so I went ahead with the purchase despite still having some resevartions).

I don't play that many console shooters to begin with (although I bought Gears of War b/c the guys at work play coop together). Hell, I may be one of the few who owns a 360 and *doesn't* own Halo.

The real shame is that, with the infrared interface, the Wii could be an awesome shooter platform (graphics not withstanding). I just haven't seen many games take advantage of the full potential there. I kind of wish they would put out some old rail shooter ports in a collection for the Wii - I think that could be a lot of fun.

Meh.

I think I just haven't seen enough PS3 games, period. I did enjoy Little Big Planet for the time that I played it, though.

Yah, getting a PS3 just for blu-ray seems kinda silly.

I don't know what kind of TV you have, but I think my TV is half the reason movies look as good as they do. I bought a Bravia with the upgraded processor, which is supposed to make SD look better, and I think it does. So maybe you just need a cheap up-convert DVD player, instead of getting a blu-ray player and just being tempted to buy a bunch of blu-ray movies. Though, movies like The Dark Knight are amazing in HD. Maybe someday I'll get a sound system to go with it all, but my TV does have pretty solid built-in speakers.
