Console-ation Prize

Last weekend, I upgraded the hard drive in my PS3; it was extremely fast and easy procedure. It now has a 320 GB drive, up from the factory 80 GB. What with downloaded games, save files, DLC (including lots of Rock Band tracks) and the inevitable few game trailer videos, the drive only had 7 GB left. Now we should never have to worry about space on ( Read more... )

Lindsey has Fable II and showed it to me the other day - looked pretty cool.

As far as L4D goes, I found the bot AI to be extremely acceptable. They will never take initiative, but they will watch your back (an absolute necessity in this game). The only real problems I've had with them is that they have absolutely no sense of where you're pointing your gun, so they'll sometimes walk directly into your line of fire. Playing with other people is good too, don't get me wrong, but I play single player more often and get along just fine. If you're debating which one to get, I highly recommend the second one. They took everything from the first and just made it bigger and better. A big upgrade to the graphics, lots more guns to chose from, melee weapons, a few more recovery and grenade items, and the story flows from one "movie" to the next much more smoothly. It's probably still a little more expensive than the first one, but believe me, it is well worth it.

Sounds good then. The console version also has the option of local multiplayer, so we could mitigate the AI shortcomings by using only two of them.

I play Beautiful Katamari on the 360 and quite enjoy it, though I feel the kind of games you/Megan play are different than the kind of games I play. I'm not sure if it's 360-only, but I do know it wasn't available on PS2.

I played the original Katamari Damacy on the PS2 way back when. I enjoyed it, but don't know that I need to get it again (I think the newer versions are generally regarded as merely more of the same).

So what kind of games is it that you play? I'm open to good games of pretty much any genre. Have you played any of the Lego games?

I mostly play games on my game boy - I've got a couple of Spyro games and Pokemon blue and gold and of course the classics like Tetris. The problem with me and gaming is that I'm terrible at anything that isn't straight up single-button mashing (which is why I kick ass at Pokey Pummel in Mario Party), but I like the stories of the newer and more complicated games, so I usually just watch Patrick play - I find out what happens and it doesn't take ten times longer than it should. So I've seen many of the Lego games, but have only played Lego Rock Band myself.
