To have that many people choose to mark the occasion, to want to be part of the official start of a new Presidency, to be more civic-minded / aware than they perhaps have been before? Those are all good things. To have people want to assume responsibility for participating in working toward improvements, for themselves, for their neighbor, for this country. In terms of scale, it's unlike anything we've ever seen.

I've been pretty harsh about the hysterics of this entire election year, however....

I think it's awesome. Today, the better part of the world came together to express immense hope for the future. It's amazing that one person, especially an American in this day and age, would have that kind of impact.

Obama is the first President I've thought had a chance in hell of creating world peace. Sappy, I know, but coming from me (as you know) that's a huge deal.

You know me....I wasn't completely sold on Obama. But I love how he seemed to bring out the inspiration in people. I love how there were record voting turnouts because people WANTED to vote. I loved seeing the reaction from other parts of the world. So unlike anything we're used to seeing.

In other news, I just made another post. I forgot all about skating season. Kimmie Meissner and Emily Hughes withdrew.

I watched the historic events of today in awe with thoughts of imagine when we look back 20, 40 years from now ...it's been a long while since I've been excited by an inauguration.
