Olympics Over, World Cup in 100 Days

I am having Olympic withdraws. I've liked watching the olympics since 1984 LA. I prefer the winter over the summer. Not sure why, but I do. It could be the skating, but I also like watching the other stuff too. I can't stress enough how much I hated NBC's broadcast. I saw what kind of coverage Canada and the UK got and was instantly jealous. They ( Read more... )

Yeah I was pretty miffed at the coverage too. I'm a huge hockey fan, but since I live in Texas.. most of the hockey games STARTED at 11pm... sometimes stuff would be broadcast at 2am. For real? NBC has how many channels in it's family and yet there were no replays or rebroadcasts of anything. Hell NBC Universal still isn't broadcasting any replays.

I too enjoy the winter olympics more than the summer. I think because I find it boring to watch people in events that mainly consist of running or walking really fast.

It's weird for them to spend all that money for the rights and barely show anything. They must have been paid well by the sponsors to show the same ads every 5 minutes.

They have the rights for London 2012 and Sochi 2014 and Brazil 2016 are up for grabs. Think the bidding is next year.

Yeah and then they complain about how no one was watching until the gold medal hockey game.. Yeah well that's because your coverage was shit.

I think they work under the assumption that no one watches the Winter Olympics and everyone is all about the Summer games. Yeah kids are in school during the winter but geez.

London will have much better coverage.

I actually stopped watching all but my most favorite events the last week of the competition because of the way NBC was airing everything. They failed to show a lot of the skaters that I like, but for whatever reason they didn't feel were important.

The interruptions.... Whoamg, they would show a couple people from one sport and then switch. NBC has enough cable channels that they could have shown a sport on each. And the interruptions were often not even event related i.e. they showed a bunch of fluff pieces on athletes not even in the events I was watching. Oh, and they didn't show things live when they said they were. It said "LIVE" on the screen, but online I could see that most of the event was already over.

I should have done what you did and found an alternate way of watching them.

Yes I heard that even with skating, they skipped a lot even though that draws a big audience. And then to keep flip flopping back and forth between different events...it's like, you already tape delayed it, just show it in one piece, will you? And I don't need to see a 10th interview of Lindsay Vonn. I already knew who she was because they whored her out enough ( ... )

Carolina Kostner was a hot mess! From what I remember of the NBC announcers, she simply refuses to put in the work that it takes. They said she rarely will run through her entire programs before going to a competition ( ... )

I was very happy with the skating results for all 4 events. Probably the first time that's ever happened for me (to be satisfied with all the standings ( ... )
