Some days I wonder why we stopped using typewriters. (Okay, the three four errors I made and corrected while typing that could be one reason.)

I'm afraid I can't go more than a few words without using the backspace key. I'd have to give up writing. ;)

We can't have that. You must write. I'm waiting for lots of words from you.

Ouch. Did you have your files backed up?

That's a good response. Mine probably would have been rage.

Fried enough to fry something else sharing the same ribbon cable? That's pretty fried.

Have you tried pricing data recovery services?

Also, looking to the future, may I recommend Carbonite? Fairly inexpensive, pretty much entirely invisible encrypted offsite backup. (if it strikes you as a worthwhile option, I can send you a referral for an extra month free)

Data recovery would be lovely, but these days if it costs money, it's out of my budget. *shrug* I shall survive.

And thanks for the recommendation. I've actually just signed up with an offsite backup system, which seems to be working well.

My goodness.

I can't even make a joke about how the best part of a fried hard drive is the skin. A contagiously broken thing? That is extremely broken.

Impressive, is it not? Talent, that's what it is; pure, computer-breaking talent. ;)

I'll be interested to hear if your first readers develop seizures. You've created a potential weapon there.
