Wise advice. When the bitterness of the darkest part of the year approaches, there are few things men can do besides prepare.

Naturally.

We were caught grievously off guard the previous year. Quite a few people succumbed to the cold, and were not revived for several days, if not a week or two.

In the event that such winters are common here, making preparations would be prudent.

I see. A troubling thought indeed. Such an event happened in my own world last winter. Deep snow and bitter cold, such as no one had seen in a generation. The people of my village gathered together and survived. But here, there is no manor house to shelter in, and no one who may bring supplies from outside.

Many wintered in the hospital or school. Some braved the snow for a meal.

And our only neighbors seem more intent on wiping us out than helping. A dire situation indeed.

That's a very good idea! I can help gather firewood and supplies.

If winter was that bad last year we have to do everything we can to try and make sure it isn't so awful this year!

A good section of the population would need to gather it. One or two people collecting for themselves will not fix the situation. Perhaps a hunting and gathering party would be in order.

Okay. I'd still like to help however I can, so if a gathering party goes out to look, I'll go with them. Please let me know what else I can do to help.

Putting together such a party would be a good way to start.

[Will he be helping? ... Prolly. A little bit. Being chipped kind of means needing food and warmth and all that good stuff]

I had suggested similar regarding our food, but I've yet to be successful in finding anyone willing to go hunting.

Perhaps you know of someone?

What a shame that memories are so terrible here.

Not directly.

Unfortunate.

Regardless, I will gladly offer my assistance, I just prefer not to go alone.

Then that brings the hunting party to two.

[He'll help, don't worry. Living seems pretty awesome right now]

What happened last winter?

A blizzard took the city by surprise. Food ceased to be supplied to us, and the wildlife was scares, leaving us with little to no rations, as well as below freezing temperatures, broken water pipes and no heated buildings.

Many perished from starvation, hypothermia and pneumonia.

That's terrible. But I assume we know what we're up against this year?

One would assume. Save for the fact that little has been done as of late to prepare, and it is already what I can assume to be November.

Yes, I remember. How can one forget that harsh winter.

Apparently, it has been forgotten. No steps have been taken as of yet to create a city storage for food, and only one of the buildings is undergoing renovation.

[Sighs]

Most of our hunting parties have disappeared. Sephiroth was always the one that arranged it. However, you're right. No one's taken precautions. Of course... those of us who do remember are few now.

I see.

Then it is time that someone else go and organize them.

As for the rest, merely my voice alone will not do to warn them.
