I don't really know what to say...I just think it's typical for parents to offer advice even when advice is not requested.

oops, i didnt even add the interpretations! yes, i agree about parents giving advice not requested, but i dont agree with parents giving advice with layered meanings. i think parents should be honest and frank with their children, but then these are my theories on childrearing created based on the pain my father's beliefs on childrearing inflicted on me.

I agree. I think some parents want to protect their kids, or hope that their kids will listen to what they're saying instead of paying attention to what they're doing. *L*
