I am so sick right now. Already have missed a week of work and I'm missing another day tomorrow. Tonsils are swollen, I don't have a fever, and it's not strep.

I just feel terrible and tired and would like to be elevated to a higher plane so I don't have to eat anymore okay thank you.

I am so sorry. People start to travel during the holidays and the germs in a coffee house can get NUTS.

I got REALLY sick working at Starbucks, until I got more obsessive about germs and not touching things (like touching garbage ONLY with gloves even though I didn't care much and thought washing my hands was good enough).

Lets keep in mind that not only do I work in a coffee house with the public, but I also go to school and am surrounded by the public (who knows who was the last person to sit in my chair!) I've also been to conventions, and to top it off coworkers have been sick as well ( ... )

Now this is the annoying part. I ask for a doctors note, they say they can't give me one. So I go back to the ENT and ask for a doctors note from the receptionist. Now I UNDERSTAND that a receptionist is not a doctor, but I wasn't looking for money, and I wasn't looking for a prescription. I just need a note from the doctor telling him that I'm sick. I told her "I work at Starbucks" which came out as Tarbugs because my throat wasn't working. and she goes to give me a form for school to excuse me from class today and she asks "Well did the doctor say you shouldn't go back to work?" I told her I was waiting back to hear if I had mono, this didn't seem to phase her ( ... )

1. This all sucks. You're right, it's all annoying even if you weren't suffering from a mystery illness.

2. I'm sorry and did read everything; it all should've been done sooner, but like me you aren't the bitching sort.

3. I'm glad it's being taken as seriously as possible (though I understand it could be taken more seriously)

4. I would not have thought to go to emergency either, and isn't emergency much more expensive?

5. I thought it was mumps, but if it's mono then it is.

6. I do blame Starbucks, though your school is a good point as well (it's just bathroom/garbage germs are more intense); from now on -- not your fault -- wear gloves. It's why it bothers me tremendously that janitors don't clean the bathrooms because they are professionals with HIGH salaries, a union, and special training & equipment. It's like bloody "Sunshine Cleaning".
