I have known a few people in poli relationships. I think it comes down to the indidual as to how they cope with it. I have seen people who it works perfectly fine for, unfortunately I have also seen people who think it is great going into it but turn out to be completely unsuited for it. I don't know if I could handle a relationship like that, even though I have been around quite a bit.
I've witnessed many many poly relationships. The ones that work are where the people concerned are relaxed, laid-back and neuroses free. Then again the same is definitely true of friendships.
Ben and I were discussing definitions of love the other day and we both agreed on one definition I came up with.. "love is absolute comfort"... it's when you can be completely at ease with the other person... neither of us defined it as monogomous or life-long... it was definitely the comfort factor and I think you can have that with more than one lover and/or more than one friend.
