I was at the MET yesturday morning looking at old works from Venice. And I was facinated by the old diaries. It got me thinking....What if one day your diary was on display in a measume? What if millions of people could see your most intimate thoughts? We write to put our thoughts on to paper and yet, we rarely let anyone see, but how would you ( Read more... )

I remember reading Ann Frank's diary in 7th grade and feeling weird about it. I understand why it was published, but it's still the personal thoughts of a young girl. It's not like she posted them on a public forum like livejournal and knew they'd be on display for everyone! I can't judge anyone based on their diary entries. Thoughts that were meant to be private are an outlet for emotions. Sometimes it's a way of venting. If you read it and think "wow they sound horrible" well, who doesn't have angry/bad/jealous thoughts from time to time. They've got to go somewhere. Unless of course, it's a detailed list of how to kill someone or something. That's a little different ( ... )

I just had a thought that if your entry did happen. What if your entry was in it? And someone read it? And thought, wow this girl is some kind of psychic?

That would be cool.

And I don't look at artwork for hours either. And I think that if you don't, then it doesn't mean something to you and would you want someone staring down your work just for the sake of it if it didn't mean anything to them?
