I am awesome.

Just got another acceptance letter for a poem, another paid publication. This is, what, #5 in the past two months? The money is just a small honorarium, really (and sometimes comes in odd forms - one mag, for instance, paid me in the form of a gift certificate to Amazon [I'm glad you ordered the book, Trace, I hope it helps!]) but it's something, ( Read more... )

I'm sorry about the rejection. :( It always sucks, doesn't it? I got rejected by NFG and The Pedestal and Star*Line recently, too. But it's not a comment on your work, necessarily, it's just a matter of finding where it fits.

The mag I got accepted to is Dreams and Nightmares (edited by David Kopaska-Merkel, who's pretty well-known in the field). I've also recently had work accepted to Aoife's Kiss, Astropoetica, Illumen and Pebble Lake Review. Again, nothing large-scale, but you've got to start small, right?

Also, I'd love to tap into your expertise as to good poetry markets. I do write mainstream poetry but am often at a loss as to where to send it!

See above comment. ;) Though I do want you to submit to Nth Position, my friend Todd's online magazine - it's published some pretty awesome stuff by some well-known poets, it's got Arts Council funding, etc. I'll email you later with Todd's email address, or you can find it on http://www.nthposition.com in the Contact section and send him some of your stuff with a note that says I suggested you send it along.

Grats, dude. And don't feel shitty about KFC. That's the thing about working out, it allows you to eat all that stuff without worry.

I just read the title to your entry and started cracking up. Not that you're not awesome, but that it was just funny to see it there just like that. And you are, btw, awesome, and no amount of KFC will take that away!
