Crying tears of otaku joy with Kona-chan

Wonder Festival Winter 08 coverage is starting to trickle in. SO FREAKING EXCITED Max Factory is making the entire SOS DAN in Figma format which means Kyon finally gets PVC love beyond the pathetically-sized Nendoroid trading figures ;w;

There's some preliminary coverage from the usual suspects: moeyo, Heisei Democracy, Akiba Hobby and Danny Choo. ( Read more... )

Hibari has defeated me too. I'm seriously considering pre-ordering it (and sending them a vicious message to better give me a damn Xanxus before the end of the year too).
I'm rather "meh" about the quality though. It's gonna cost me a heap on shipping to get it here so maybe it's better spent on more Megahouse figures (I kinda want the Claymore one...)

Also yay on half naked figurines. My nan would hang and quarter me if I ever bought those. Or suspect me to be a flaming lesbian if she doesn't already...

They'll probably make Tsuna or Mukuro next since they seem to be going by character popularity, no complaints if it's the latter. Xanxus might be a long hard wait though, side characters hardly get love (unless you're backed by the insanely loyal OP fandom where figures of everyone and anyone seem to be getting made XD). The quality is going to be crappy for sure, but the consolation is that the pose is at least dynamic I guess.

If you can find that Clare figure grab it, she's mad hard to find at reasonable prices now. ROFL I guess we're kinda screwed if there's a sexy female character we really like since female PVCs = fanservice and little else. My parents are not going to like my new room once it's set up XD

T_T Well a Mukuro might be nice. Or a Ryohei. I guess OP has already proved itself a constant seller so they're not really at risk with producing sidechars. Whereas Reborn has very particular favourites and the less gayable chars might not sell all that well. (10 years later Varia would definitely hit my shelf though)

She's going for...5000/6000 yen on Yahoo. Decent price but I wanna wait it out a bit cause I spent my money for this month. And I'm not sure yet if I really really want her.

XD @ less gayable characters but it's so true, the most loyal part of the Reborn fandom are yaoi fangirls XD Which means probably no Chrome or Lal which makes me sad. I'd probably pick up Squalo if they ever make Varia fellas, but Xanxus will probably look more badass because he's Xanxus.

5000-6000 yen isn't too bad considering her RRP was 5500. She looks great and there's good detail, but she's a tad smaller than I expected in person. You might want to dedicate your spending power to expanding your OP crew instead XD

I remember my dismay at seeing Yoko, my eyes immediately traveling to her body, and, finding that satisfactory, going to her face and finding it's rendered in some approximation of Code Geassness, where characters cut their steak with their chins. Sadly the Konami fig (and all the other kits I've seen so far) are superior in that regard.

And the rest from this season I just don't want. I consider that pretty good news. No wasted yen. DX

And yes, in person, we're all paid six figures by upscale nightclubs to show our faces because we're just that cool. Internet is where we nerd.

Vispo made that biker Rei kit you were so in love with FYI. The Konami sculpt is cute at best, but in terms of stylistic faithfulness Vispo is a lot closer. I reckon the most balanced looking Yokos are the Kotobukiya kits. I have no clue why those weren't released as PVCs, maybe they wanted to bleed the kit construction market before moving onto the otakus who can't paint.

In person I'm only an ordinary uni student who squeals at cute shoes and Chip 'n Dale stuffed toys, but I reckon that's still leaps better than being Paris Hilton's crotch or a raging otaku, if mainstream perception is any indication lolz.

Well, I was in love with it because it looked good.
Just seriously not feeling the Vispo - it almost seems like it was sculpted from the episode midpoint artwork, which was gritty and awesome but probably wouldn't lend itself to modeling.

I'm not ordinary anymore. But... I think I'd prefer to be a normal uni student too. Graduate and climb up a ladder someone set up for me. I don't know what the fuck I'm doing anymore.
I still squeal at fast cars and videogames tho, so maybe there's hope yet.

Idk, the body sculpt is fantastic which is always the case with Vispo, and I don't think the sharp chin detracts from her face. You liked the Rei better because angular shapes are a better fit with the original Eva style I suppose.

It's like how that Ian Hunter song goes, "I am what I hated when I was young". lol foolish youth.

BUT HE'S SO EXPENSIVE. BUT I WANT HIM.

He may be cheaper if you get him from kidnemo once you factor in shipping, not sure. The strippable coat and ridiculous pose sans weapons + Hibird are just too tempting to pass up XD

I've also considered buying the Hibari figure >__>;

Highlights for me were the Figma and Revoltech stuff. Oh and POP Sogeking ;A;so much awesome in a PVC figure.

How do you find the Figma's? I preordered Lelouch because just how awesome he looked and he cause he came with a cat xD

(Halo thar friend of mine who didn't log in? XD)

Give in to the Hibari so we can all be stupid fantards together hurhurhur ;D

Yep, the Figma and Revoltech booths were awesome, jointed figures have come a long way in the last couple of years. I'm really tempted to get Sanji or Zoro because I keep seeing them, but I've barely read OP because I don't like the art so that flimsy rationalisation (fortunately) keeps me from getting them.

I missed the Lelouch preorder on play-asia so I'm going to try to get him from a local retailer, but if you're a Geass fan he's just too fun not to have XD The Figmas are kicking the Revoltech line's ass in terms of paintwork and facial sculpt IMO, only Yuki is out so far and she looks great (took a pic and will post momentarily).
