Where do you get your news?

I'm going to be helping some people I know creating a website for giving people info about devastation/relief efforts in the provinces/villages around Port-au-Prince which haven't received as much news coverage but are in just as bad of a situation. I was thinking it would probably be a good idea to try and spread the word through whatever news ( Read more... )

They frown on self-links BIG TIME. Anything that even smacks of self-promotion is 86ed and your account is banned.

Don't necessarily have to link to the site, but do you think there would be room for a discussion about the lack of attention to the provinces?

There is- however, metafilter generally frowns on straight news posts or single link discussions. The lack of discussion of the provinces is a unique angle but you'll need links to support the post. go here if you're interested in posting there.

Yeah I don't really know what the cool kids are doing nowadays either. I read boingboing and they might be interested but that's not exactly a major news site or anything. There might be a suitable place for it on reddit, I guess?

at work it's mostly boingboing, I'm pretty old fashioned and get it from either links from friends on LJ, twitter, or yahoo news on my mailbox.
