I'm excited for you and your towels. I am very attached to a lime green (don't judge) towel that I randomly bought at The Bay one day and cost more than a week's worth of groceries.

About the big bug, a Swiffer with a paper towel on the end rather than a Swiffer cloth works wonders no matter where the bug is. You don't have to go anywhere near it and the paper towel is big enough that when you take it off and the dead bug is on it, you still don't have to even think about touching it.

It must be so exciting to own your own place! That's amazing! When are you moving in? Or have you already?

As for the bug, you could always hysterically run over to the neighbor's house and make them kill it for you. Like my housemates did. Yeah. Seriously. During which they were in such a panic that they didn't even realize that the neighbor had left. Hehe.

I move in next Friday, and my couch is delivered the day after. I'm very excited about the whole thing. I'm hoping to find a friendly bug killer on my floor :) *crosses fingers*
