I know JUST HOW YOU FEEL. The world is so intolerant. HONESTLY. Nah - just kidding - my friends are really great about it! As for my LJ friends: they've come mostly from classics, so err - they understand! So how did you get into Classics? By the way, if you don't reply by tomorrow don't be surprised if I'm not around. I'm going away on Wednesday to somewhere with no LJ access! Have a great summer if I don't speak to you tomorrow!

How did I get into Classics? More or less accidentally. ;) I wanted to learn German in 6th grade but my school didn't offer it until 8th grade, so my mom recommended I take Latin just to get used to the idea of an inflected language...and it sucked me in. As it does all discerning people, of course!

Added you back, but fair warning - I just moved to Madison for grad school. So, sadly, for the next six years or so I'll be exiled from the land of grits, sweet tea, and Waffle Houses. ;)

Actually what attracted me was the "subversive Liberal Academic...in training" icon as well.

And funny thing is that one of my GF's lives in Madison as well.
