I love the book! It's one of my favorites. I liked the movie too, but I did notice the lack of character development, everything was so much different in my head. I felt that Sayuri wasn't acted very well, she didn't capture the character the way it should have been.

i agree about the acting, it felt like they simply scraped the surface of these much more complex characters.

I was a little disappointed in the movie too...I just loved the book so much that the movie didn't quite capture it all for me. They definitely changed some stuff too.

overall the movie made me want to read the book again haha. one of my all-time faves!

i was disappointed that they used chinese actresses for the movie. the book is a fav.

i found that odd too, doesn't seem right. love the book so much!

seriously, i watched about 1/3 of that movie and then shut it off. i think i would have liked a documentary on geishas better.
