If it's any consolation, no one would think that a Sand nin would have to know how to swim.

^_^ Sankyu. Do konoha kids have to learn? I mean, you guys don't have a lot of water around konoha either, do you?

I don't actually know if it's a required thing (you'll have to ask Tenten, she read the entire Konoha Shinobi Handbook), but most of us learn because there are bodies of water in the forest (if you remember from the chuunin exam). Swimming isn't so hard, it just takes a bit of practice. And once you learn, it's not that scary anymore.

*has Konohagakure Shinobi Rule Book propped up on her knees* Chapter 6, Section Two: All ninja of Konoha must learn how to swim by age seven. By age ten, he or she must be able to sustain themselves in water for at least 12 hours. See specific requirements for Chuunin and Jounin rank.

...

I don't know how accurate this is. Lee just learned how to swim a couple of years ago -- Gai-sensei basically just chucked him into a lake and watched to make sure he didn't drown.

He learned -- quickly.

Oh. Good idea. Maybe I'll just chuck Kankuro into the pool off the deep end...
Although...that'll take combined efforts from Gaara and myself

Gai-sensei has his own set of rules for everything. *snort* That's a bad way to learn. No wonder Lee is the way he is, the lack of oxygen damaged his brain.
