Going to Hong Kong and Japan at the end of May but feeling a bit worried since it's just going to be me and my sister. More woried about Hong Kong since only been there once but that was ages ago and we don't speak the language and don't know our way around. Not sure what to do or where to go. Oh boy.

Don't worry so much about Hong Kong. The signs mostly have English on them and it's not as bad as you would think. Of course, I might just remember it that way since I had relatives taking me around and the fact that I understood Cantonese and could speak it at a basic level...And it was a while ago for me too. But I would suggest going to the Tian Tan Buddha (I'm a sucker for big things), do the cable car ride and of course, hitting up Mak's Noodle for supposedly some of the best wonton soup. I really loved the ferries and if you're into that sort of stuff, you can take a day trip out to Macau from Hong Kong, which is what I've always wanted to do the next time I'm there...

Any good recommendations for hotels or where to stay?

My sis wants to do sightseeing and we have no idea where anything is.

Unfortunately, I'm no help when it comes to lodging. I always stayed with our relatives since they had a place in city.

For me, Hong Kong was always about the food so tourist attractions were never big on my list. But I still ended up hitting way too many museums even though I could care less about ancient Chinese art. Ocean Park was fun since it's a SeaWorld type of amusement park but it has pandas which was a highlight for me since at that point in my life, I had never seen a real life panda before. Of course, there's the Peak. I think everyone goes there -- I recommend it at night but it's pretty awesome during the day too.

From what I remember, pretty much everything is accessible by public transport. And that it was easier to navigate than NYC's, which took me forever to get accustomed to. And there's always a billion taxis there too, though I remember them being rather pricey.
