HERE

This is oddly amusing, and yet disturbing.

If he keeps it up, I'm going to start tearing his posts COMPLETELY to shreds >:}

Hi there! faithfulmoder January 29 2003, 07:38:10 UTC
Yeah, this guy is exactly why I understand if most Japanese people think foreigners are rude assholes, and through guilt by association, me. I can't ever undo it, but I can try to make a dent in that perception, ne?

Oh, and I read about your efforts in Japanese... very cool! I'm absolutely thrilled to see another self-taught Japanese type. :) If you'd like native materials to work with, I've got bookstores every three feet over here. Email me and maybe we could work out a box o' Japanese printed material for ya. :)

(I remember how hard it was to get stuff like that in America, and when you can get manga and books here for 80 cents a pop it seems wrong to not at least make the offer to someone who is suffering the self-taught path like me ;) )

For grammar I recommend the Teach Yourself Japanese book in the Teach Yourself series, by Helen Ballhatchet and Stefan Kaiser. It's not really ideal for a novice, but someone with your background will probably find it a great way to cement your grammar.

Gambatte kudasai!

I know this is quite a bit belated, but...
Well, I do feel, in retrospect, the 'You are a frickin' moron' line wasn't very wise on my part. I should've said something else a little more pertinent to the situation.
But what really got me angry was the fact that I was under the impression that this was a language community, and his previous posts were about the language -- that's all fine and good. But when he starts asking about sex...well, that's not exactly what the community is there for, ja? ^^;

But thanks for the comments -- I've also spoken with a couple other people who have experience with Japanese, one of whom is fairly strong in it (and only knows at least 10 other languages to boot @.@). When I asked him for good grammar/study materials, he said most of the ones he knew of were Japanese.

I'll definitely keep these in mind -- thanks for the encouragement ^^
