Losing something bit by bit

My dad lost today a part of his leg; it was amputated a some distance below knee. I have no idea how it will be possible to him have a prosthetic, as his wounds heal a thousand years and the leg that is left (and is his left leg, at that) also has a small wound from previous time. I am in too much of shock right now to feel much of anything but I

Oh my dear! I'm very sorry to hear about your dad. I don't think there IS anything cheerful to say in the wake of such horrid news, but I'll be praying for your family, for whatever that's worth.

I hope so as well. It means a lot of changing in our house because he now at least for a while needs a walker or somesuch thing. And to use that it needs a lot of room... Sorry, I am somewhat still out of it.
