Gee, it's been a while...

While I have been flitting around LJ pretty consistently, I realized that I haven't posted anything in a while.  Of course, I'm not sure that anyone really noticed or cared (which is fine! - we all have lives!) but I do like to keep a record here and not posting for so long means I'll have gaps in my memory when I am old and senile.

I have been having an intense love affair with Max.  Before you get too concerned, remember that Max is my iPad2.  I've been adding new apps slowly and really having a blast with him.  I'm going to get him a fancy cover, just because he deserves it and I want to make sure he is protected.  I'm probably getting this:

Or this:

Or this:

Very hard to choose.  Oberon Designs makes the most beautiful stuff.  You should check them out - they make all kinds of stuff.  Gorgeous, hand-tooled covers for all kinds of e-readers and tablets, journals, jewelry, portfolios, etc.

Aside from Max, my other new obsession is here.

I've been working on finally losing weight and getting in better shape.  Enough is enough of this crap - I will NOT become the fat old lady who needs a cane or a walker because her knees can't hold her up anymore.  I've got a blog over there if you want to check it out - I'm ejmuller there.  SparkPeople has really been a big help.  There are loads of communities centered around all kinds of interests, so I joined a few that made sense for me and I'm reaping the benefits.  So far I've lost 15 pounds in 6 weeks.  No fad crazes or anything, just sensible eating and more movement.  I haven't touched sugar or cookies, ice cream or chocolate since I started.  I even skipped my own birthday cake here at the office - and it was an amazing triple layer chocolate mousse cake!  I literally had a small forkful (mostly because my boss was going to smack me!) and that was it.  I don't put sugar in my tea anymore, which is unheard of for me.

I'm also making David eat healthier too.  He has cholesterol issues and other stuff and he eats like crap.  So we're having more grilled chicken and fish, way more vegetables and salad and lots of fresh fruit.  We have fun going grocery shopping and checking out new stuff and how bad the other stuff is!  I bring my lunch everyday (which is saving me tons of money) and I also bring my snacks in - fruit, yogurt.  I've fallen in love with Fage yogurt - amazing stuff.

Even though it is only 15 pounds, the benefits are pretty cool.  I'm wearing a pair of jeans today that I bought ages ago and never wore because I could zip them.  Now they fit great.  My feet have shrunk too, which is kind of funny because some of my shoes are falling off.  I plan on keep this going - this is a new way of life, not a "diet".  I want to lose 2 pounds a week and if I can keep that up for a year, I will have lost 104 pounds by my next birthday, which will be awesome.

I have more energy at the end of the day and I feel better about myself.  All good things.

A not good thing is that I have been fighting bronchitis for 2 weeks.  I just started my second round of antibiotics and I have to go for a chest x-ray tomorrow.  Blech.  It put a damper on our Vermont vacation last week.  I just wasn't up to doing as much as I would have liked, but we did get to see the kids and meet my friend Heather's new baby boy, Aidan.  He is completely adorable.  So much fun!

Work has been good and very busy.  I need to do a separate post about that one of these days...

David is good, he's dropped about 6 pounds and has begun muttering about quitting smoking again.  I hope so.  I'd really like him to be around for a while.

In other news, it looks like Aaron is moving back home this summer.  He has to transfer schools - long story, I'll write a separate post about that and otehr things with him.. oy.

Sarah is staying up in Vermont this summer, except for a week home to visit.  She did fabulous this semester - 3.5 GPA for the semester, 3.44 GPA overall.  She's moved into a sublet for the summer months and so far, so good.  She'll be going to Englad for the spring semester in January and she wildly excited about that, of course.

OK, I had better get moving.  Lots to do here!  Just found out I am going to DC on Monday and staying overnight.  Kim, are you listening??  Dinner on my expense account???

update, life change
