My father-in-law died Tuesday. I wasn't going to even post anything because it's such a downer but...

People (family and otherwise) have text messaged us their condolences.

That seems awfully impersonal. I don't think it matters how much we fear not knowing what to say, the actual point of saying anything at all is not to say the right thing but to say anything at all. It's in the act which seems completedly diminished if done so by text.

For what it's worth through this medium, I'm very sorry for your loss. My condolences to you both.
