Hail Lovecraft nerds!

Friend of mine is looking for:

I need a Lovecraft story where the hero is an extrovert, hopefully with developed friends. Any pointers? My mythos knowledge isn't as deep as it should be.

I cant think of a single Lovecraft story with an extrovert. The closest I can think of is Burroughs and he still isnt even close to an extrovert. There is a rad website called The H.P. Lovecraft Archive (http://www.hplovecraft.com) that might help your friend out.

I checked with a ravenous Lovecraft head, and he sez there's no such animal.

Call of Cthulhu features Professor Angell, up until he's dealt with. In my experience, professors tend to be extroverts, in that they're comfortable standing up in front of a room full of not-necessarily friendly folk.

Then there is Nathaniel Wingate Peaslee, from The Shadow Out of Time, for the same reason.

But there has been a good deal of discussion about this aspect of the Lovecraft Mythos. It's been posited that by it's nature, the knowledge of the Mythos tends to isolate people who learn of it, and that people who are likely to learn of it are not deeply involved in extroverted pursuits to begin with. After all, it's a branch of knowledge that defines "occult", and that is actively hidden by it's practitioners.
