I was told in a comment from my last post that there is "NO documentable evidence that more guns are being sold then normal". However, there is evidence that gun sales are on the rise http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/11/11/obama.gun.sales/ and Read more... )

Founding fathers wanted the right to bear arms to protect Country and home. There has been a phase bandied around that we can mold this to. During the election someone on a radio talk show was talking about President/Vice President and qualifications. Someone said "Any American born person can be President" and then went into this crazy diatribe that made no sense. (host kept asking for clarification but the man prattled on and made even less sence to everyone but himself. heh) the Host then said "Any natural born COULD run for President but not everyone SHOULD run." It's true for guns..."Everyone could own guns...but not everyone should ( ... )

I've already given plenty of rational, anti-gun/outdated amendment arguments in the past. But really, the arguments from both sides can be rational, so it ends up on what's valued more, and therefore which arguments carry more weight. Both sides are just going to think the other side's arguments are stupid. :P

I didn't see the offending comment, but personally - if people want to overreact and buy a ton of guns because Obama's becoming president, that's their silliness. (Gee, I wonder who could be playing up these fears? The gun manufacturers, maybe? Ooh! Maybe the auto industry should start spreading rumors that there are going to be stricter limits imposed on car purchases!)
