[Character Name] Chie Satonaka

[Gender] Female
[Sexual Orientation] Heterosexual, but she is a teenage girl, and most teenagers find themselves questioning their sexuality at one point or another in their lives. It's obvious that Chie likes boys, but she's also been shown to be comfortable with the concept of being a 'Prince' for Yukiko. For the most part, she's heterosexual, perhaps with a touch of bi-curiosity, but that's not the kind of thing Chie thinks about or obsesses over.

this.
Alternates. She has a pretty laid-back style.
[Background] Chie grew up in Inaba, a small rural town in Japan. She was a fairly normal girl with a fairly average life. She has been best friends with Yukiko Amagi for many years. Chie and Yukiko met one day when Chie was walking. She spotted Yukiko on the road, holding a dog. Upon being asked, Yukiko admitted that she had run away from home because her parents wouldn't let her keep the dog. Yukiko had looked so sad that Chie tried everything she could to make her laugh. They were friends since that day, and Chie told herself that she would protect Yukiko always.
Throughout her childhood, into middle school, and right through to high school, Chie would keep up her habit of protecting others in any way that she could. She would often give herself important titles and form groups, like the 'Runt Gang' in kindergarten, the 'Ally of Justice' in elementary school, and the formation of the 'Vanguards of the Lunch Revolution' in middle school. Chie developed several ways to deal with problems like bullying, and made sure that her friends were always safe. Her obsession with martial arts helped her in these endeavors. At one point, she was close with a boy named Takeshi until around middle school. It's implied that she had some feelings for him that never really came to anything.
A transfer student from the city named Souji Seta came to Yasogami High School, an event that always set the student body buzzing with excitement. Chie quickly befriended Souji, as it was in her nature to be friendly to everyone. She, Yukiko Amagi, and Yosuke Hanamura clicked right away with the new boy. Chie heard a rumor about the 'midnight channel', where if you looked into a television on a rainy night you could see your soulmate. She encouraged Souji and Yosuke to try it along with her that night. They witness a girl on the channel, but Souji winds up putting his hand inside the television, discovering the first of a chain of strange incidents. The next day, Chie asks Yosuke if he can show her around Junes' electronics area, because her family is looking for a new television. Souji winds up sticking his arm and then head into the largest television, which of course freaks the hell out of Yosuke and Chie. In their stupidity panic, they wind up knocking all three of them straight inside of the television.
They find themselves in a strange, foggy world, and the appropriate freaking-out is done. They look around for a bit for a way to get out, and then run into a strange bear mascot creature. The bear urges them to leave, but they have no idea how to go. The bear conjures a method to return them to the real world, and they all go home to rest and think on what had happened. The next day, the three discover that Saki Konishi, a third year student, had died that morning. She was the one who had appeared on the Midnight Channel the day before, and was also a witness to an earlier murder. Yosuke and Souji leave to investigate the TV world, leaving Chie behind as a look-out. Yosuke obtained his own Persona while there, but when they re-emerged the girl was furious with worry.
Yosuke and Souji watched the Midnight Channel again that night and saw Yukiko Amagi in it. Yukiko wasn't at school, and Chie panicked when the two boys told her of their suspicions. She called Yukiko and was able to speak with her at the Inn, and scolded Souji and Yosuke for making her worry. However, Yukiko appeared again on the Midnight Channel the next night, and she disappeared for real this time. Chie insisted on accompanying the boys to rescue Yukiko, defiantly denying any suggestion that she stay behind. They went inside the TV world, locating a castle with Teddie, the bear creature's, help.
Within Yukiko's Castle, Chie faced her own Shadow, which claimed a number of ugly, horrifying things, such as Chie not really being kind at all, that she believed that Yukiko 'should' feel worthless around her. The Shadow talked about Chie being jealous of Yukiko's femininity and the way that boys would pay attention to her. The Shadow claimed that Chie felt that she was far superior to Yukiko, and Chie protested, horrified. 'I can't win as a girl, let alone as a person. I'm pathetic,' the Shadow went on, talking about Chie's desire to keep an iron grip on Yukiko, who justified her need to have people depend on her. Chie went up denying her Shadow, which caused it to manifest into a monster, which essentially looked like
this.
Souji and Yosuke rescued her from the Shadow, and Chie accepted her Shadow for what it was, a part of herself that she had denied for a long time and would now have to come to terms with. The Shadow manifested itself as a Persona, Tomoe, and Chie was now able to use the same power as Souji and Yosuke. Chie became even more determined than ever to save Yukiko, in order to tell her how she really felt. She was forced to rest from the ordeal, and they soon went back to save Yukiko. They found Yukiko facing her own Shadow, which, like with Chie's Shadow, talked about the negative things in her life- her distaste for inheriting the Amagi Inn and her view of Chie as her 'Prince Charming'.
After Yukiko's Shadow appeared, Chie vowed to focus on what was good about herself. She swore to quit being nothing but the girl Yukiko could rely on. As time passes, Chie and her friends continue to investigate the mysterious murders happening in Inaba, eventually discovering new teammates- Kanji Tatsumi, Rise Kujikawa, and Naoto Shirogane, along with Teddie himself. Many adventures occurred, and retelling them would be recounting the entire events of the game, and I have chosen to mention what history was most important to Chie's development. Unless you count beauty pageants, perverted hot spring adventures, etc, as important times in Chie's life. Which they were, but she's willingly chosen to forget a majority of that.
[Personality] Chie was born on July 30th, 1995, making her a Leo, which perfectly suits her personality. She is warm-hearted, enthusiastic, faithful, and has somewhat of a short temper. She's obsessed with martial arts, kung fu in particular, and practices intensely whenever she can. Her motto is 'don't think, feel'. Chie acts first and analyzes the situation later. She's pretty mature for her age, but this often results in her forgetting that not everything is up to her. In Chie's desire to help everyone, she tends to stress herself out a little bit, forgetting the fact that she has lots of friends there to back up and assist her.
Chie comes off as brash and in charge, but when something happens to her friends and it's out of her control, she's prone to minor panic attacks (one example: when Yosuke and Souji disappeared into the TV on their own to explore, and the rope Chie was given as a lifeline on the other side snapped). She cares so very much about her friends that she's willing to do almost anything to protect them. If you worry her, she won't pull any punches telling you that you should never-ever do that again because she was worried sick and damn it she will save your ass next time you get yourself into trouble and after she's done saving your ass she'll beat you for making her worry.
Despite her tomboyish nature, Chie has a small, secret desire to be more feminine. It's not something she obsesses over, and she has plenty of time to work on it in the future, of course, but a part of her looks a bit yearningly at how elegantly Yukiko carries herself. As such, if you compliment Chie in a way that suggests she is displaying feminine behavior/is pretty, she takes it straight to heart, and it seems to make her about as happy as steak does. Yeah. Chie is also interested in boys, but often brushes aside any possibility of dating because she's not sure what kind of boy would want to be with a tomboyish girl like her.
Above all, Chie wants to protect people. She believes that her Persona ability was given to her to protect her friends, and they are her motivation for working and training harder. When it comes to her friends, those that she loves, Chie will do almost anything to protect them, and her will is unbreakable towards that end.
[Specialties/Abilities] As a Persona user, Chie can call upon her own Persona, a Chariot Arcana Persona named Tomoe Gozen (later Suzuka Gozen). I would say that it's unlikely that she has use of it in Somarium as the power is limited to inside the TV, but given the nature of the dream world, she might be able to manifest it if the need arises.
Chie also has immensely powerful legs and as such uses no weapon in battle, preferring to just kick the shit out of everything kung fu style. She is more than able to apply this in real life, and does. Often. Usually on Yosuke.
[Affection] Chie reacts in a extremely moe and adorable feminine way towards romantic affection. Tell her she's pretty and you'll have her blushing all over the place.
[Fighting] Chie loves to fight, for play or for real. This is the kind of girl who can knock a full grown man unconscious with a well-placed kick. That said, she's not unneccessarily violent, and doesn't go searching for fights.
[Other Facts] Her thighs are so incredibly powerful that she can literally
punt you into the galaxy. God Chie you're so butch. So butch fabulous.
Watching action movies and eating are on the same level of the happy meter for her. This girl is damn easy to please. However, while she could devour five beef bowls in a row, she's a terrible cook, pretty much beyond the point of redemption. Like, she's horrible at it. Combine her with Yukiko and you're looking at a guaranteed case of food poisoning.
Her Social Link is maxed out (or very close to maxed) at this point, but she is not Souji's girlfriend. This is because I'd like to be able to develop her relationships within Somarium without her being already attached and I ship Yosuke/Chie. Her Social Link being maxed means that she's more comfortable with being slightly vulnerable, and she's more in touch with her feminine side. But she'll still kick your ass without hesitation if you mess with her friends.
Also, her ultimate Persona is fucking
DARTH MAUL. That's how badass it is. Suzuka Gongen doesn't afraid of anything.
