Ok, so I've been wanting to update all week because so much has been going on! Especially Harry Potter night but I haven't had time. Thank goodness I have Thanksgiving break now..[even though it still won't feel like one] I really really need it o.o
Ahh, the time before it started was so exciting! I wanted to dress up properly but then I couldn't find my Hufflepuff scarf from last year so I ended up borrowing my friend's Slytherin stuff for the day XDD I felt like such a traitor though! Especially since there were so many Hufflepuffies in line u.u But backing up a bit, we went to eat at Macaroni Grill before the 6:45 show and it was so so awkward. Macaroni Grill is a pretty formal place, so a bunch of high schoolers loudly parading in wasn't exactly welcomed, haha :P The waiter was super cool though! He kept joking around and asking if I wanted the kids meal and some crayons to color with so I said yes just out of fun, and he actually brought them o_o Then I realized how much I miseed the kids meals. I mean, they give you ice cream and gummy worms! :O Mmm...
Anyway, after we had all stuffed ouselves silly we made our way to the theatre and it was like whoaaaah..way too many little kids! ~.~ But then the atmosphere was really fun because people were like "OMGing" like everywhere until the doors opened and everyone stampeded in! I didn't want to get like trampled or anything so I hung back and ended up getting a seat in the front of the theatre, but after the previews started this creepy old guy sat next to me who [and I don't mean to be mean or anything] smelled really really BAD. I think he was drunk or something..but thankfully he moved away..only to be later replaced by another weird older guy who kept humming throughout the entire movie. Even the sad parts! So then I looked at him, and he stopped XD; Yah, so that was my theatre experience.
I admit it left a ton of things out I would have rather it hadn't...but I loved it to death anyway!
STuff:
Harry Potter. Rating: :D
Oh my goodness, Daniel Radcliffe has really, really improved in this film! He conveyed his emotions much better this time, especially in the moment after the Third Task (*TEARS*). He was angsty and all that good stuff XP. And he was cute when he was crushing over Cho XD Since he is the main character, I'm glad that he is making Potter more believable, paralleling how he doesn't want "eternal glory," fame, and fortune - just a normal life. With normal girl- and best-friend- troubles. And normal magical powers to defeat the most evilest wizard in the world. You know, normal.
I was more disappointed with Ron and Hermione in this one. I wanted to see more of Ron's fanboyness/jealousy/obsession towards Krum, and I felt that Emma played her parts well, but she was a little too emotional. She cried and shouted a lot .__. And since she's already pretty, her transformation at the Yule Ball wasn't as dramatic as it could have been, but it was still very cute. I was also trying to see if they were pushing for Harry/Hermione, Ron/Hermione, or Viktor/Hermione XD Oddly enough, it kind of seemed like... all three o_O Lol. Pick ONE please.
Dumbledore was the only character I was really bothered about. He was overly GARRRRR! *hand motions* dramatic *hides* Every other second, it seemed like he was about to grab a chair and throw it at someone XD Dumbledore, to me, is always calm, cool, and collected, never shows his emotions on his sleeve, you're never sure what he's thinking. He was too one-dimsensional..I was disappointed :(
There needed to be more SNAPE! I loved that scene where he bopped Harry + Ron over the head :D
Neville Longbottom. Oh my goodness, they did his character wonderfully in this movie. It was nice when he was getting ready for the Yule Ball, dancing with himself and everything. I "aww"ed at that ^^ And he and Ginny [my fave female character] looked positively adorable together. I also thought the part during the Unforgivable Curses lecture was well done, where you see how affected he is by the Cruciatus Curse :( He needs a hug. And a gum wrapper.
Out of all the characters though, GRED AND FORGE WEASLEY pwned! OMG TOO CUTE. I loveeeeeeeed them. I think they [director, writers, etc.] picked up on how much we loved the Marauder's Map scene from PoA, and decided to plop the same element throughout the film. Good thinking :) They kept most of their roles intact [yay!] and were highly entertaining.
Favorite part of the movie:
Fred: *throws wad of paper at Angelina* "Would you-" *swivels* "like to go to the Ball-" *points to self* "with me?" Brillant ♥
CEDRIC DIGGORY FELL OUT OF THE SKY JUMPED DOWN FROM A TREE! [what is with climbing trees in this movie?] Robert Pattison pulled off "pretty boy" well :) AND, he did deliver all 3 of his lines (heh heh) well, he seemed sincere and humble, much like canon!Diggory. They didn't show him around Cho as much as I thought they should have [only at the Yule Ball...? *points to icon*] but that's probably because the movie was ONLY 2.5 HOURS LONG *grumblemumble* The Precious part was him telling Harry about the Prefect bath. Oh, that was so inappropriate..lol. By the way, where WAS his Prefect badge? Generally, he portrayed Cedric as he should have been portrayed, and that makes me happy. What makes me sad is that we barely knew him before he was Kedavra'ed :(
The DRAGON part was cooooool. Hehe.
Fleur and Krum were kind of just...there. Though I have to admit, Krum's school Durmstrang was a greaaat opening. I swear the girl sitting behind me squeed XD Understandably so, his accent was teh best. GIVE HIM MORE LINES! He seemed right for playing Viktor, but didn't come off as sincere as he should have. He did seem only... "physical" as Hermione put it :P What about that one scene where he wants to talk to Harry in private, ehhhh? Yeah, that's what Krum's character was missing. I highly enjoyed his crushing on Hermione, although we needed to see more library stalking XD The running-on-the-beach scene was great. What would have made it better if he called her HERMONINNY and if Ron called him VICKY [I was waiting for that! ;___;]
Ahhh, ok there are just too many characters! I'm really tired today so I won't discuss them --quick summary: Cho was yay, Madame Maxine was omgtooTHIN, Mad Eye Moody was super creepy..but good o.o, and Lord Voldemort was awesomeness epitomized! Except for his feet where I was like NUU. DON'T. TOUCH. CEDRIC.
And as a side note, Draco looked incredibly handsome at the Quidditch World Cup XD
MORE Stuff I just need to add
The pace of the film was uber fast! o.o There wasn't much time to think about what was going on - it moved from one point to another in a few seconds, with very little transitioning. I'm so thankful I've read the books a mazillion times before watching, since that enabled me to fill up the missing parts. I realize that they were trying to squeeze a 700+ page book into 2.5 hours, but that's just the thing -- WHY? Make it longer! They could have gotten another 30 minutes out of it, easily. And that would have allowed MORE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.
It caused them to leave out our Bill, Charlie, Molly, and PERCY! I love Percy :( And what about Winky, Dobby, and the whole love triangle thing between Krum, Hermione and Harry w/ the Daily Prophet? *sad*
..I found the scenes in which Harry is practically molested by Rita and Myrtle to be kind of uncomfortable too ^^;;
Luckily the Rita thing was short lived, but Moaning Myrtle was crazyyy. She was all over Harry and, seeing as he was naked, that was invading his personal space/privacy! Poor guy, lol. I admit it was really funny, but she must be one lonely ghost o.o
Out of all the HP movies, I have to say this one was one of the best. The soundtrack was still pretty good, most of the characters were fun, Voldemort's return was portrayed perfectly [I was really relieved about this], and they didn't mess up the ending or Cedric's death! I actually felt sad in this one..but you know what?
I AM SO SEEING THIS AGAIN. On Thanksgiving in fact ^^
I feel kind of bad for my sister. She got three C's and an "accidental" F on her report card so my dad doesn't want to let her go see the movie now. That's harsh ;_;
