File 1: The Locked Room
Given the site of the Meisei University campus-a clearing in the middle of a forested mountain-there was nothing out of ordinary about the woods surrounding it.
Buried deep in the woods off campus was a one-story concrete structure. Nobody knew why it had been built in the first place. Now, it was just another run-down building. Owing in part to the woods, a significant portion of the university students were not even aware it existed.
From early days, there had been rumors that the building was haunted. According to one such rumor, someone had followed a figure he had seen near the building, only to have it vanish into thin air right before his eyes. Another person had reportedly heard the anguished cries of “Help! Save me!” when she was passing by the building. This story was refuted by yet another person, who asserted that it was not “Save me!” that he had heard, but cursing screams of “I’ll kill you!”
The stories did not stop there.
Supposedly, there was a room far inside the building sealed behind a heavily-locked steel door. What awaited on the other side of the door remained a mystery to this day. After all, not one person had come back alive to tell the tale. . . .
