[fic] What love is capable of making you do

Oct 14, 2010 02:14

After seeing the same scene repeating in front of his very eyes every single morning for the last 6 days, Toshiya learns to shut up and let his lover has his way. Any attempt of protests will fall upon deaf ears.

What scene, you are asking? In the morning, whenever Kaoru enters their kitchen, he will open the fridge and take THE package, take one or two pieces of THAT food and reheat them in the microwave. He doesn’t care any effort Toshiya takes to make him a decent breakfast. Toshiya even takes extra effort to make sure that they have different breakfast every morning this past week. No, Kaoru doesn’t even notice. Of course, he makes sure that he eats all the breakfast Toshiya makes, but.... But he always eats THAT food too. Isn’t the breakfast Toshiya makes enough??

What food, you are asking again? Toshiya sighs. You see, there’s a Gundam Café in Akihabara. It’s the first Gundam Café that was opened last April. All food and beverages sold there are Gundam-themed. They also say Gundam-themed souvenir too, but that’s not Toshiya’s point here.

The food we are discussing now is the café’s specialty. It’s Gundam-shaped Taiyaki. It comes with different fillings to be chosen; the classic red-bean, chocolate, strawberry jam, cheese, vanilla cream, green tea cream. God, Kaoru loves it very much! Because the Gundam used on that Taiyaki is one of Kaoru’s favorite Gundam models. Don’t you dare asking Toshiya which Gundam is that! Sure, as a Japanese boy Toshiya enjoys watching most of Gundam series; sure, Kaoru has overly enthusiastically told him what model that Gundam is; but Toshiya isn’t an otaku for God’s sake. There’s no way he can tell or remember which model that Gundam is. It doesn’t make any difference when you eat it. It won’t make the taiyaki taste any different if they put other Gundam model on it. Right?

But of course, it means the hell a lot to Kaoru! He loved it so much that he wanted to try all flavored the taiyaki offers. He must be out of his mind! Who will, in their right mind, eat 6 taiyakis in a go? He went as far as persuading Toshiya to order 3 pieces of taiyaki with different filling while he’ll order the other 3 flavors, so he could try the entire flavors at once. Of course Toshiya outwardly refused. No matter how much he loves and adores Kaoru, there’s a limit of what he will do for his dearest lover.

Kaoru’s disappointment upon Toshiya’s rejection, if he had any, was sort lived. The waiter explained that they can buy the taiyakis as take away. If the taiyakis were kept frozen in the fridge, it would last for around a week or more. The taiyaki could be reheated any time with microwave. God, Kaoru’s happiness upon hearing that beaten his joy when Yoshiki called to invite Dir en grey’s participation on hide Memorial Summit two years ago. And God knows how much Kaoru worships hide.

Actually, Toshiya didn’t dislike the whole ordeal of Kaoru’s fanboying thing; he found it kinda cute, because Kaoru rarely let himself out like that.  But buying that much of taiyaki as take away wasn’t cute, it’s downright embarrassing!! How much was that much, you are asking? A dozen, two dozens, maybe more...? Toshiya didn’t know, rather, he didn’t want to remember.  Geez, Toshiya wondered why Kaoru hadn’t bought that Café  already!

The waiter had to repeat Kaoru’s take away order three times (can you imagine, three times!), just to make sure he heard it correctly. Not wanting to further embarrassed himself, Toshiya kept his mouth shut, yet he virtually throw dangers from his eyes at Kaoru when he was eyeing the Haro shaped chococrunch. He didn’t know if it was the murderous intent he emitted or Kaoru was truly satisfied with his take away taiyaki that stopped Kaoru for buying a bunch of that chococrunch, but it didn’t matter to Toshiya; Kaoru didn’t buy them was all that counted.

No, that’s not the end of the story. Not yet.

And then, he starts to have the taiyakis for breakfast, and for snacking too. He has at least 2-3 taiyakis a day. Every day from the day he bought them up to this very morning. You don’t think that’s even normal, do you? Toshiya still remembers the last time Kaoru’s last taiyaki moment, last night when he was proofing their upcoming single’s cover and its whole packaging.

So, just like 6 mornings before, this morning Kaoru enters the kitchen, happily humming with that gleaning aura of ‘I-am-gonna-have-my-Gundam-taiyaki-again’. As Toshiya knows that he will, after checking out the readied breakfast on the table, Kaoru open the fridge and take that package out. Now Kaoru will put the taiyaki into the microwave (Toshiya is rolling his eyes when he thinks of it).

But wait, why is Kaoru still standing there? Why hasn’t he put the taiyaki into the microwave by now? Kaoru is actually frowning at the package in his hand.

Toshiya’s curiosity gets the better of him. “What?”

“It’s only one left.” He absentmindedly answers.

“You had it too last night.”

“Oh. Yeah, you’re right.” He’s resuming his routine putting the last taiyaki into the microwave and discards the package to trashcan.

The humming stops. Toshiya can’t help to notice that the humming stops. The humming that never stops during the routine, the humming that only stops when the taiyaki is served on the table along with whatever breakfast Toshiya makes. It stops now. That gleaning aura is subdued too, gone. And Toshiya doesn’t like it.

His train of thought stops when Kaoru takes a seat in front of him and bringing two plates joining the breakfast Toshiya has prepared. Each plate has half of the last taiyaki. Kaoru puts one of them in front of Toshiya, who’s watching him with surprised eyes.

“The last one is the cheese one. You always love the cheese the most.” Kaoru explains with a genuine smile.

Then their breakfast routine rolls out as usual again.

The next morning, Toshiya is arranging the breakfast when Kaoru enters the kitchen.

“We’ll have something new for breakfast,” he announces.

“Oh? Are you trying a new recipe? What is it?” Kaoru asks eagerly.

Toshiya tosses something cylindrical to Kaoru who reflexively catches it. When he has a better look of it, his face immediately lit up and he’s actually grinning ear to ear at Toshiya when he looks up at his bassist lover. It’s a carton of Hare Crunch Choco.

Toshiya answers that grin with an equally happy smile. “Finally we find a chococrunch which you won’t complaint.” Kaoru is not fond of chococrunch, too sweat for his taste; thus, he usually picks the cornflakes for cereal.

Kaoru chuckles.

Toshiya loves it. He loves to hear that happy, amused chuckles coming out of him.

Yesterday he drove to the Gundam Café to get some cartoons of Hare Crunch Choco. He loves making his lover happy as his lover loves to make him happy. He loves spoiling Kaoru as Kaoru loves spoiling him too. Beside, buying several cartons of chococrunch is more acceptable, more normal thing to do than buying dozens of taiyaki anyway.
